Hahaha hope 'twas a good'un for all!
Oz Day was fun in Melb - a little bbq, a little beer, a glance at the salad someone's gf brought... more beer, more bbq, some game call 'goon-of-fortune' involving a death-bag of Goon pegged to the Hills Hoist (not a real one unfortunately but a cheap imitation)... and that was breakfast.
BTW. What is "Austrlia day"? Is it just because, or does it have another meaning?
Think of it as Colonisation Day - white man arrived, killed the natives, settled. Some ppl don't like it, some do. Personally, I'm happy to be here and always drink a toast to my first fleet ancestors, even if they behaved kinda stupidly. While the crim-class ticket they came on may not have the salubrious claim of the (in the US) Mayflower, it's far funnier.
Or think of it as Nationalism Day - wind up the 'ole jingoistic nationalistic rhetoric, flag-waving, anthem singing stuff. Thankfully since the demise of Howard this seems to have declined a bit.
Or think of it as Australia Day - celebration of what's good about Oz. While we must always acknowledge and never forget the bad things, Oz day is not a day to dwell on them but focus on all the good points of Oz and the Ozians.
And drink.
