Right guys, i suggested this a while back, and i'm out tonight against all advice. (My younger brothers wanna celebrate my being alive for my birthday next month) and i thought WTF why not.
In the spirit of my current mood who's up for a local member meet up somewhere in the coming months?
Venue would probably be a pub/bar unless someone else has any other ideas? So age would be 18 or over.
If this seems viable please post feedback.

I would love to do one of these in the US for the yankee HLPers, though we'd probably have to do separate ones for different parts of the country.

I'm East Coast. I'll be in Miami starting late August/early September (college), so maybe that can be the location for 2009 (considering South Beach, nice weather, and all). Till then I'm in the north east, in NY.

Bolton would be good! Although I now live in the Wirral, I could always stay with relatives! 

You could always come to Birkenhead! Liverpool, European City of Culture 2008 just across the Mersey! Should be a few things on this summer!

If enough people say yes, would it be worth booking a convention hall / centre? It might be an idea. That way people could bring their rigs for knowledge swaps. Modelling classes SCP checks by experts and generally whatever else people can think of.

Regarding a USA meeting, do people think it'd be better to have one in the central states (I recall we were considering Champaigne, IL in the last thread), or two meets (one on each coast)?  I'd vote for the former, but I can see some people being against that due to travel costs.

i say we do one big meet.  we just don't have enough people dedicated (or with enough finances) to have a good turnout to both meets.

We could do central USA in a smaller city--basically avoid the problems associated with major cities. That, and airfare would probably end up easier. Also smaller hotel hassle. I'm thinking either Illinois or Texas.

Or why don't you just ask to borrow the canteen on my destroyer???  OK so there may be a small wait, and the threat of an engine breakdown, but I'm sure I've enough Hermes to cover all eventualities as you'd all get to have a go at flying with the 248th Suicide Kings.

However, if you really don't want to have the Galatea, we could always meet halfway between the UK and America, Greenland maybe?
