Knight Templar: You spelled necessary wrong. And why the hell would someone backtrack all the way to an 11-month old thread?

That question has taxed our minds for many years.

Nothing really, just nitpicking. It was a rather large fontsize.

Ok, ok, I think the problem here is the fact that even I have found myself getting so caught up in a thread as I am reading it that I want to post a reply, and sometimes I forget to look at the date of the last post. It's not really a major thing, and if someone has a point to make, I really don't see why there should be a problem with making it. If the thread is relevant, does it really matter when the last post was made?
After all, surely communication was the whole reason this board was set up in the first place?

Peace :D

Its generally considered better practice to write a new post and link to the old thread. That stops people from reading half a page thinking it's new.

That's understandable I suppose :)

Still, is there any way the board itself could post up a warning if the post you are replying to is older than 3 months, something like..... 'Warning : The post you are replying is now over 3 months old, HLP ask that you start a new thread and refer to this one to save regular users' time.'? Or something like that?

Yeah, it's called common sense :p

The warning is right there in the bottom left corner of your post. ;)

LOL

That's ok most of the time, but some of us are on the boards at 3am, or simply get so wrapped up in the reading the thread that we simply don't notice, which is what happened here. And yes, some of us here are noobies, and let's be honest, I can guarantee that most posters on this board have not taken the time to read the small print, you just stick to the commandments.

Though shalt not Spam
Though shalt not Flame
Though shalt not Post threads to boost thy count.
Though shalt make only relevant replies.
Though shalt not Swear

Of course, they are more like guidelines ;)

Common sense is all well and good, but Human Nature has to be taken into account, we are not all infallible ;) If someone does it repeatedly, then fair enough, but mistakes DO happen :) If you don't want someone adding to a thread, then it should be closed.

Flipside :)

If I can ask why don't you close a thread which appears to be a sank one and has two month unresponded?

You can do that Knight Templar, as I know. Correct me if not :doubt:

Otherise I already had this question before that why don't corvettes escape from battle if they have 8% hull and they know they can do nothing about the outcome of the actual battle. Withdraw, get to the repair yard, and the GTVA won a corvette.

The same is wrong with the Shivans, I would swear that they wouldn't jump out even if they have 1% hull.

It would be nice, but I only moderate a few forums, not this one. Tis' admin territory.

Thanks for enlightening me. I am getting more intelligent day by day. ;) And I still haven't asked what I want to. :)

LtNarol,
I'd be careful about what you say in the forum.  I know a couple of guys here that are Naval officers.  But it's a good comment.

:nervous: I think this thread has returned to active status...

Anyway, seeing a post from Setekh kind of gives it away, but hey... lets not be too hard on the guy.  However, if we are going to continue this topic of discussion, I would strongly suggest that no one actually responds to comments made last year.  really we should have an admin close this thing once and for all, but it's so irrelivent that they probably won't bother.
who needs a signature? ;)
It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

They should have done it after that quoting of 'DO NOT POST NEW THINGS IN A 11 MONTHS OLD THREAD'.
