how to make cartoony ships?
I was just woundering what it takes to make ships appear more cartoony like?
I basically had this idea: I think WCsaga is going to become a great standard in the Wc universe mainly because of the possibility of including new models and missions (thank you fred). Once saga is finished, what is to stop fans from making a campaign with the movie ships (following the movie) or better still, an ACADEMY series campaign?
I definately think the latter would be cool, but I was woundering what t took to make ships appear cartoony. I think it's mostly texture work, no?

Why would you want to do that?

I wouldn't (and mostly couldn't), but I think saga will grow just as much as freespace , which might open up perspectives.

You could do this in two ways. Edit all the textures and graphics or code your own toonshader.
That are at least the two posibilitys that are comming up my mind.
"Yes! That is my plan, and I see nothing wrong with it. I figure that if I stick to a stupid strategy long enough it might start to work."

Cell Shading used to be the route for this, but it currently isn't working. Once the material system is up and running, I suspect it would be possible to recreate it.
