on wEvil's sig it says something about a FreeSpace movie coming in 2003! What is that all about? Is it true?
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

mmh...

Its a half-finished story set almost 800 years after the end of FS2.

It gives me enough freedom to take some artistic license while at the same time i can still have good 'ol FS2 things happening.

As of the moment -

3 Ship models done to a reasonable quality (film level)
2 ship models in concept
1 ship model in the pipeline (hipoly Hecate)

Bar scene under work
Coridoor scene finished

Main character (Drekker) almost finished, just needs modelling in 3D.

Other characters are semi-bashed out but if anyone is good at this sortof thing plz give me a shout - i suck at storyboarding and character design.

I hope to have about 15 minutes of reasonable footage finished by christmas 02.   As soon as i get the email ill be doing an HLP hosted site on the issue though so keep tuned in.

Im saying 2003 because Real Life (bah humbug) keeps throwing a spanner in the works, and as much as id like to work on this all day and night i find myself either doing uni coursework or being drunk at the moment.

Many people dont realise it takes a team of well over 200 professionals (excluding actors and extras)almost 2 years to make a half decent film these days.

While you can do pretty good stuff on a camcorder you'd have to be VERY creative, and you couldnt control the final output of the film very well.

Im only aiming for a 30 minute pilot, not a feature film.  At least this way i can be sure to get a good level of visuals and a decent plot without going all final-fantasy-eque and confusing the hell out of everyone.

Oh..and its going to be totally CG

'Course it wasn't. You're welcome to try. But I already have tried, have been trying since shortly after I joined the forum, and the time it takes to make a clip goes up exponentially after about 12 seconds, and if you get voice acting or amateur recording, odds are the quality will not impress. I was largely reacting to the idea of an official FS movie, since a quickie is quite within a wel-equipped, quasi-obsessed FSer's grasp, and a 30-second spot shouldn't take longer than a short campaign to get running smoothly.

Yes I know what it takes to make a movie...cuz my cousin just got in to New York Movie School University (something like that...the movie school at NYU basically)
And no hard feelings if you took what I said the wrong way Stryke...:) and wEvil: keep at it! I would love to see a FS based movie

Voice acting..i'll, cross that bridge when i come to it.

Im confident i have the talent and resources to pull it off.

I'll just have to see how it all goes.
