I was wondering if there was a opportunity to remove the red fps-esque flashes when you ship gets hit and optionally replace it with lets say, a hud icon?

i like the way it was in x-wing or tie fighter, you shield/hull strength indicator just flashes.

would be cool to replace it with a shader some day. its a really really old skool effect that i think needs revamping.

It dates back to the original Descent in 1995, where they produced the effect by actually color-shifting the game's texture palette towards red.

I don't think it's that bad since it only comes up when you're taking hull damage.

I'd support an option to turn it off, but if it's too much work it's not a big deal to me.

it gets brutally annoying when your caught in a nukemod gatling spray. of course what better way to tell a pilot that they're screwed

I think a launcher flag would be nice...Definantly not something a mod would opt to do or not do, but as an individual I'd like to turn it off sometimes.
