We introduced Naginata in Kendo tonight. Our head instructor, myself and a couple others have been curriculum building it for a while now on Fridays but this was the first time presenting it to the whole class. Went very well I think, of course being one of the instructors meant I had to be the hitting dummy for the others. Having your Kote (gauntlets) struck in Naginata is not fun in the best situation, being hit repeatedly by people who are learning with bad accuracy means my forearms are going to be all sorts of interesting shades of black and blue tomorrow. Still the a small price for awesome.
We went to see Lock Out afterward. I will say Guy Pearce did a pretty good job as a jerkass action hero, the rest of it was Oh Wow Terribad. Like painfully abused logic and science, I think there should be a war crimes trial at the Hague regarding it. Still got to hang with the crew and it provided excellent fodder for witty banter.
Overall a great night.
