Was just popping in to see if there had been any announcement about how the UK Online Safety Act might impact the HLP forum.  Been seeing some small forums closing altogether, so I was concerned enough to check in.  But that's not the point of this thread!

Since my last post in...uhh...2021, I (finally) escaped Tennessee in favor of Illinois, just west of Chicago.  Back to medical lab work, except now it's a toxicology lab, and the lunatics let me evaluate data and report patient results.

I came out of the closet IRL.  Like, to everyone.

I got back together with my ex....from high school.    That's a story unto itself, which warrants a post of its own.  It reads like a romcom written by a total hack, though, and I'm loving that life.

And for the near future:  I have a court date on January 28.  I've been Alyssa to everyone for over a year now, and it's time for the paperwork to catch up, so that's the day I go to court for my legal name change!    Illinois is a self-ID state, so I'll also be able to update my gender marker on my state documents, when I get my name updated on everything.

Makes a bunch of overbroad demands of website owners because THINK OF THE CHILDREN.  I'm light on specifics, since I've been focused on US politics (for reasons relating to the whole being out as part of a targeted minority).  I think the thing tripping up a lot of small sites is that it requires age verification of all users on "pornographic" websites, but the law then includes within its definition of "pornographic" website, any site with a direct messaging function.  Better to find more informed commentary than my own (or better still, have an admin consult with a UK lawyer).

yea, games just sort of pile up now. though i attribute this to a few things. games never seem to end, or offer no real ending due to everything being procedural. or never reach a point in development where they are at an acceptable level of doneness. so you either get bored with them or you wait for them to get dev time (and its a crapshoot if it ever does).
