Apparently something happened on SCP internal. Though the reaction is a bit exaggerated, I can't blame him. A while back I had to take a couple of weeks off because I was just so sick of a certain someone here.

2 weeks? That thing could be fixed in 2 hours, I know, I do it enough.

Well, it's not computer related, more real life. Still sucks.

I took 3 days to get rid of most traces of the bastard.
The virus/ trojan was able to infest the system without my Anti Vir complaining about it, ALTHOUGH it's running on highest security level, the thing is even updating daily.

He created exceptions in the windows firewall to allow him to connect to the internet.
I killed the two processes via msconfig, but it was to late.
Couldn't launch the anti vir app to scan the system, couldn't access the registry.

So i tried mal ware remover.
It took 3 different mal ware apps to remove it ( the last scans have been negative before i found him in another process), but still no joy.

By accident i found him in a process named svchost, i deleted it but me thinks the virus still sits somewhere, i tried several different Anti Vir apps, but none of 'em starts ( Anti-Vir PE for instance can't load the engine ), so i'm not sure if the results from the Anti malware scans are trustworthy.
I still don't have access to the registry and Firefox still wants to connect to the internet via proxy, a option i never used before.

Several applications refuse to start ( process explorer, 3DSMax, Nero a.s.o. ), reinstalling these apps didn't do a thing.

It seems i have to re-install the entire system, but i have to back up the data first...400GB of data ( ...which is a problem, i don't have a external HD, burning the stuff doesn't work ( at least with Nero, ahve to try with a different app ).

Linux Live CD. (or thumb drive) pop 'er in, burn your data using the on-disc burner, and install Windows.

Well, given his presence on both IRC and HLP, it helps to take the load off being moronic, which is a good thing because I don't have that much free time to post nowadays (I didn't post on HLP or chat on IRC for one whole day, actually).

i built a new lego pneumatic engine. its an inline 4 cyl. add some wheels and a couple coke bottles full of air and it appears to haul serious ass for a lego car.

Since my car died a couple of weeks back I decided to ride to work with bike today for a change. It's been a crap load of years since the last time I rode such a "long" distance (... 8km, one way) at one go so it was quite a hell. On the other hand, when I rode back to home I chose another route and it felt like nothing. Gotta try that route when going to the office next time.
