I made this cob years and yearss back, but it only had a base crap skin........

Recently thanks to IPAndrews and a bit of advice from gifted others, UV Mapping finally starts to make sense.
IT's a marked improvem,ent on the original skin which was jsut tiled rubbish, also before i get anyt, "WTFlolololZOMG" comments, i don't care

It's more of a technical exercise in UV-Mapping rover anything else....

But for now, here's the "JDC RF-16 Sparrow scout fighter"

PS I'll afdd a cockpit later on, and 3d weapons...

Sorry, couldn't resist. It doesn't look so bad. But my first impression is that its an atmospheric fighter.

Yeppo, most of my old storyboarding allowed for it, In a Starlancer / WC4 intro style take off..

Actually, it was the model itself. Few space fighters have wide wingspans like yours. Mostly because wide wingspans are required in atmosphere to provide lift, which is not necessary in space. So when I saw your wings, I immediately thought it was an atmospheric fighter.

I put it down and left it many moons ago. Then when i read the uv tut mentioned elsewhere, i thought why not use it

I should do that ... Once i figure out how to convert Maya models into something FS2 can use ... and once i find the tutorial.

Find a post from Karajorma and go to the FAQ in his sig. There's a whole modding section with all you need. It's got 3d Exploration a pretty meaty model converter.

Hmmn, what I did was:
Export as OBJ file
Load in 3d Exploration, save as COB file
Load in Truespace 3.2, do Hierarchy Crap
Load in PCS/ModelView/Whatever and do the other stuff

Though my 3DExplor trial has no doubt expired so I dunno how I'm gonna get newer stuff into the game.

Also I think so dude was working on some Maya related thing, XML support or I dunno. But haven't heard anything about that recently.
