George Bush was the President of the colonies in BSG?
About 20-30 years in, he would've used public fears over Cylon terrorism, as well as evidence that the Cylons were building military forces, as justification to invade Cylon space. Not being crippled by Baltar's CNP program, the Colonial fleet would have annihilated the technically inferior Cylon force.
(Given that the Galactica and Pegasus were able to decisively defeat two Cylon Basestars without any significant damage to either one, and the Cylons would have ten fewer years to improve upon their military forces, I can't imagine that it wouldn't be an eventual, if bloody, victory by the Colonials.)
Numerous corpses of the Significant Seven, found among the debris, would be found and the Colonies would search for other copies in existence. More than one identical individual corresponding to the Seven being found, the Colonials would round them up for questioning and give orders to all enforcement agencies that the individuals should be considered terrorists and extremely dangerous.
The Final Five, having never been taken to Earth, would live out the remained of their lives with unnaturally good health, totally unaware of their state. Baltar would eventually marry that Filipino chick he was in bed with during the Miniseries, but after a short marriage, would suffer a costly, heavily publicized divorce and would have his security clearance revoked.
With the destruction of the Cylon forces, all need of a Colonial force would vanish. The military would be downscaled. The glory of the Colonial military not being what it once was, Zak would go on to drop out of flight school and become a firefighter with Hot Dog. Kara Thrace would get herself intentionally expelled from the service after assaulting her superior office.
Racetrack would become a well-known feature on Colonial recruiting posters, and would appear in numerous "Women in Uniform" lists.
Kat would eventually seek help for her recurring drug problem, after being severely injured in a gang battle near a strip club, and enroll in classes with the intention of becoming a drug-alcohol counselor.
Lee, continuing in his father's footsteps, would go into the Colonial military. Lacking any ambition or real desire of his own to be there, he would eventually leave, discontent, after his term of service and enter politics as a minor functionary.
Captain Tigh, promoted for his steadfast determination to protect the Colonies, would be MIA, presumed dead, after his Battlestar and Cain's Pegasus engaged the entire Cylon home defense fleet in a massive battle over the Cylon homeworld and were effectively lost with all hands.
Admiral Adama, bereft of any further purpose in life, would die an early death as he, too, resigned from the service to spend more time with his wife - who would never forgive him for Lee's lack of success in life.
Chief Tyrol would continue to work for the military as a technician, devising several further improvements which would trickle down to civilian subcontractors. Eventually he would leave the service and become the owner of a small business, meet a local girl, settle down, and have kids.
Tory would continue working in politics, until her bloodthirsty side got the better of her and she became a noteworthy prosecuting attorney.
Anders would continue playing pyramid, until receiving a broken leg in an on-field scuffle, and would leave the game a millionaire and settle down to become a respectable family man.
Helo would continue on in the service, asking to be assigned to trouble spots. He would eventually be killed in a demonstration staged by Tom Zarek, the act of which would land the would-be idealist behind bars for life without appeal. Naturally, Zarek would go on to cultivate cult appeal and would become a rallying cry for those against governmental encroachment.
Gaeta would go on to make several pioneering achievements in the field of computers, eventually devising several advanced robotic organ replacements. He would become a rising star and easily supplant Baltar in the wake of his ruinous divorce. He would have a short romance with Anastasia Dualla, which would ultimately end in failure.
Doc Cottle would get fired after a surprise inspection by the Colonial Medical Oversight Committee, when found smoking in the room of a terminally ill patient.
Lara Roslin, fed up with the policies of the Adar administration, would eventually resign and go back to a quiet, successful life of teaching.
Finally, Billy would be elected president, after becoming a well-known spokesperson for environmental concerns, and would become elected President of the Colonies, succeeding George Bush.
