We're thinking of a Subspace Rift now (to be seen used by Lamias in the demo, which is hopefully due to be released any week- possibly this week). How powerfull, and why as powerfull will remain a mystery for now.
Everything else (maybe other than more screenshots) shall also remain a mystery untill it's released with a later chapter of Teeth of the Tiger.

May I know why Lamia cruisers use that kind of weapon? Isn't that illogical?

Dude, if you knew that, it would spoil 1/3 of the demo's, and 1/4 of the whole mod's story... :p

I don't mean the reasons, I mean the fact that a cruiser can do that. It's illogical unless you backup that action.

As far as I know only a ship as big as the Sathanas can do that.

And what's to say smaller ships can't do it?

"The Sath has just been obsoleted! No more messing around with those logistical nightmares known as juggernauts to make subspace rifts and blow up stars! Get a cluster of cruisers to do the same thing at 1/100th the cost!"

Obviously it's not going to nuke stars with it, rather cut ships to pieces like the Lucifer was cut'n'half in the FS 1 endgame cutscene. And it's a subspace rift rather than some yet other uber beam because it looks cooler in-game and makes the story better too.

And I have a d*** huge temptation to write about the fact that the Shivans seen in FS 1 and 2 are

Spoiler:
HAHA- gotcha  :p

So...the "Subspace Rift" moves like a blob? O_o

Nope... it works in a very similar way to the ones the Saths used, only the small cruiser rift hits ships (instantly). You'll see in the demo.

Not really, it depends on how much field of fire they have, and where they are located.
You could replace every single one of the Orion's top and bottom guns with AAAs and it'll still be just as weak to bomber strikes, since the sides are undefended.

5 AAAs really isnt that many for a destroyer
the hecate has six
the levi has 4 and its a cruiser
even the aten has 2 and it only has 6 turrets total!

But for a Shivan destroyer, five is a lot.

The Ravana has 2
The Demon has 2
The Moloch has none
All Shivan cruisers have 1

Not that it matters though.
Five SAAAs are roughly equivalent to 4 AAAfs due to SAAAs being weaker.

Yeah, and its a carrier... should be better defended against fighter/bomber wings than just a destroyer.
