looking good so far.  what sort of input were you looking for? :p
“Yeah, kid, what’s there to be worried about? I mean it’s only…” he trailed off as he considered the possibilities, “only a dark creepy tomb sure to be filled to the brim with painful death.” he gulped, before adding, his voice very much subdued. “I wouldn’t go in there.”

Re: My new fighter (IN GAME!!! Needs paint job, looking for help)
I was wondering if there were any specifics other than blue engines and the BSG style stripes. I was considering a blue mechanical texture over most of the body, though it would be more subdued over the main fuselage where the stripe is. Any Emblems, Decals, Insignia, etc. you want on there?

hmm...that is a tricky question.  well, for a unit insignia i posted an image below.  I am thinking some dirt/grime/carbon scoring...you know, make it look like its seen action.  and under the cockpit could be a callsign if possible.  I'd have to say I'm no good at those...thinking of them, that is.  I'd say angel for a callsign.  that would be about it, i think

Re: My new fighter (IN GAME!!! Needs paint job, looking for help)
I'm working on a much cleaner texture as we speak. I'm doing it piece by piece rather than the whole mesh at once. In the process of converting the file to blender I ended up removing the shield mesh as it caused some issues. The new texture is about 30% done, and I can add a callsign if you want, I just need to know if it will be in front of the cockpit, or on the side of the fuselage?

definitely on the side.  Means its easier to read.  and now that i've had a few minutes to think on it ANGEL is the callsign of choice.  thanks again

:jaw:  holy frak.... that is awesome.  Have you ever considered trying to write a texture tutorial?  That is simply amazing.

Okay...probably a dumb question.  What program are you using to texture and model?  Cuz i'd like to try it out sometime.  It looks awesome.  Also, just had a thought.  Is there a way to make it look like a glowing intake...like there's fusion or something going on inside?  just asking.

Modeling: Blender
Texturing: Photoshop CS2

As for the glowing intakes, I can do it, but it'll take me a while (I'm still learning how to do glows). I haven't even begun to texture the intakes and thruster exhausts.

I just learned how to texture yesterday, so most of what I'm doing is still new to me. It's just about 2am local time, so I'm about an hour away from the point where I can't focus without a lot of caffeine. I'm gonna do some burn marks, maybe texture the intakes, but glows will have to wait until I've gotten some sleep.

that's fine...2am huh?  wow... its only 7PM here.  I live in North Dakota, USA.  Well, i say get some sleep man.  Glows aren't important, they were just an afterthought.  And you learned this in a day?  Good grief, now i know i'm hopeless on textures. :eek2:

It is based somewhat on one.  I give you the result of a viper and an arwing breeding.

While waiting for Twayson to work his magic, i've decided that i can start working on other models.  I'll post new models here when i get the chance.

Re: My new fighter (IN GAME!!! Textures nearly complete, help found)
I'm still working on the final details, i had a bit of a "user error"... During the process of making grease stains and the like, i accidentally saved over one of the files used for the base texture, so im currently redoing the left wing's texture. And I'd love to work on some of your other models, I go stateside on the 16th so I may not have internet, but i'll have my computer (the joys of a laptop)

That's pretty cool and thanks for the offer, be a pleasure working with you.  Anyway, i'll have some new models of sorts up shortly, give you something to do, eh?  anyway, don't worry about any holdups.  Stuff happens, just gotta learn from it.  Heck, i'm learning to FRED my own missions right now.  Its actually pretty fun and easy once you get the hang of it.

Base texture is about 90%, dirt and battle scars need to be added, as do glows. A shot from head on to the demonstrate the Reaction of the engines

That is sweet.  I'm about half done on a new model.  Also, what format are the textures in...just to ask

Re: My new fighter (IN GAME!!! Textures nearly complete, help found)
JPEG, each one is about 512px X 512px, though i can easily reduce that to make life easier on your computer, i just use multiple textures to it's easier to manage. once i finish the textures i'll reconvert it into .cob or whatever format you want the finished one in... im not sure how the textures will translate though, so i may export straight to .pof

95% 2 renders this time, to show off the engines, I recolored the front engines so that they make more sense when compared with the back
