The Clash of Titans from FS1.  Simply because of the two options you have.  Bombers destroying the Demon and Beta covering the Bastion.  Or having both wings as Interceptors.  It's a great example of how wing leaders should lead, and how ship and weapon selection can ultimatly affect the mission outcome.

I always try to avoid Doomsday from FS1 for some reason I prefer to not disclose...
I reject your reality and substitute my own, hence my existance on the Galatea!

Buuuut... How do you know such a mission as 'Clash of the Titans' even exists? You know, because of the whole 'Doomsday' thing that happens before?

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
I am fully aware I have caused several paradoxes (Paradoxi?) by having a presence on this site.  So I shall explain them to you now.

A. The FreeSpace universe IS real.  I am Admiral Wolf
B. One day in 2335, a mysterious man in a blue box, not dissimilar to a phone box appeared on the flight deck demanding to speak with me, calling himself The Doctor.
C. He took me on a trip into the future.  I saw my own destruction, the end of the Lucifer, and the Capella Supernova
D. Wishing to warn the people of Earth in good time, I went back in time to speak with several video game producers in order to produce a realistic space simulator where cadets could hone their skills before enlisting in the GTA
E. I elected to return to the Galatea in order to guide the new recruits in battle
F. The Doctor left The Galatea, but with the use of a strange screwdriver, enabled me to have an internet connection to 21st Century Earth.

Funny old world innit?

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
And I thought that you got back in time, got stuck in the 21st century, and left Polpolion to substitute in leading the Galatea while you're gone.

Excellent! The annihilation of the Terran race begins on a galactic scale!

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
Polpolion wants his own ship.  Every Orion captain knows it.  He had his eyes on the cushy Science Cruiser job going at the Plato, before we lost that. Personally, I think he lacks the courage to lead into battle.  He can pass on orders, not give them.

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
Wow, I'm very surprised that nobody voted for Rebels and Renegades. If it weren't for it being so damned difficult compared to all the other levels I totally would've voted for it.

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
When I first played "Playing Judas" I was a little, nine-year-old girl.  It scared the **** out of me.  Will always remember it!

*loves Snipes* Rescuing him in that ridiculous nebula storm was just...annoying, but fun.  The "Dive, Dive, Dive" has a memorable beginning, but the mission itself is somewhat boring, since nothing further in the FS2 storyline goes further with those crystal stations.
[V] for FS3!

I suspect that Lion's Den would have paid-off in the 3rd game most likely.

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
It's more of a conceptual bug.  I believe the threat indicators are triggered when enemy fighters target you, not when they actually attack.  Regardless, the threat indicators weren't going off every five seconds in Playing Judas.

It's not a bug at all, it's how they really ought to work. Threat indicators would go off when you're locked up because that's much easier to detect then whether any of all those energy bolts flying around are meant for you. And also because if somebody has already started shooting at you, evading is of questionable value. The objective of Defensive Basic Fighter Manuvers is to ensure he can't shoot you, after all, not dodge what he has shot. :P

And on the other end...

If it moves, shoot it. If it can't be shot, collect it. :wtf:

Re: Favorite FreeSpace Mission
Playing Judas has to be one of the most tedious yawn inducing missions ever.
Its right up there with Monster in the Mist, As Lightning Fall and (surprisingly) Into the Lions Den.

They just feel like they were stuck in the campaigns to fill up space :blah:

I don't like stealth missions, but Playing Judas was frighteningly atmospheric.
