Just read this spec - the X-wing in Rogue Leader is 30,000 polys, with (25 I think)512x512 full colour maps - the same model as in the special edition CGI.

I have to say, I've underestimated the latest consoles a bit based on that stat.

Not really, in raw polygon performance the PS2 and Xbox eat it for breakfast.

Zero effects or textures, yes. Add textures, especially multiple layers, and the GC totally owns the PS2.

The GC's got that nice hardware 1:6 texture compression system. All in all it's like the Mac of the console world: colourful, compact, awesome power for its stats.

True, but the Xbox still eats it for breakfast but then having a GF3 does that....

XBox is good... but they don't have the games going for them. Halo is quite good, admittedly, easily the best FPS I've ever seen on any console. Gamecube has lots of good game licenses... including the one that gives them Rogue Leader, my current personal favorite. Someone port that puppy to PC so I don't have to use a weenie console control, and I'll be happy indeed.

That would probably be true if games weren't made for profit... These days the box which can make developers the most money will always win regardless of whats inside it.
