port and starboard running lights suggestion
I know this won't really enhance the game play and I doubt most people would even notice this but I was thinking that having actual port and starboard running lights would be more realistic. Every naval vessel and aircraft has a red light on the port side and a green light on the starboard side as a sort of "right of way" indicator. Granted that's not truly an issue in FS but I would think that earth would continue to produce all craft in that manor far into the future as it is globally accepted and recognized =p Maybe something to consider for future ship design/vp's.

Already done on some ships using glowpoints.

Yeah, talk to the Freespace Upgrade people. It's entirely possible to add glowpoints without any modeling experience. I don't think people will want to revise the already-existing models with asymmetrical lights though...it may be more realistic, but the current designs look pretty cool.
