If anyone with an Nforce 780i knows how to fix this...
The video corruption bug. The one where the screen becomes all screwed up before the system locks up and requires a hard reboot. If anyone knows a fix other than updating the bios, because Velocity Micro won't give me it unless I send the system back to them, let them wipe my hard drive, and wait who knows how long to get it back. It had not bothered me much before because it only did it with video files, .wmv, .avi , .mpg, .flv and so on. Not too many of those I watch and it does not do it with DvDs. But now it is doing it in games and this is where I draw the line. My drivers are all up to date. If there is another fix please let me know. I did get a screenshot of it before it locked up the last time.

Installing a new BIOS version shouldn't involve the hard drive

I know it doesn't, it is their and pretty much all of the major computer company policies to wipe the drives. I'm guessing to protect the user by proventing files and information form being seen and stolen by others. But what really gets me is they say a bios update can ONLY be done there, but they have their bios updates for their ASUS and Intel boards on the download page of the Velocity Micro site. My board is an EVGA board. Before anyone tells me to download form EVGA, I have it won't do it. It may be a retail board, but Velocity Micro modified the bios on it so it won't take the EVGA bios. It has to be the Velocity Micro bios.

What motherboard do you have, because honestly, it usually isn't all that difficult to update yourself.

Although I'm not entirely sure that would fix your problem... have you thoroughly googled it?

I googled for "nvidia 780 issues" and the very first result was this: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=30678
By quick look, seems like the same or at least similar problem as yours. It wasn't solved even though the thread is over a year old.

Quality of nvidia motherboards has dropped severely since the first two nforce chipsets, I hate to sound like a prick but you'd be probably better off by picking up an Intel P45 motherboard from nearest store. Just go through P45 reviews and pick one you like. If you have multiple Nvidia cards and use SLI, then you're out of luck.

Aside of a BIOS update (which may or may not help) you should uninstall nvidia drivers, reboot and then reinstall latest from nvidia site. If you're already done it, you may want to check that it is not an overheat issue. Check your video card and CPU fans as well as case air circulation. Another possibility is that power supply is poor or faulty. Unplug any extra hardware you don't need to test if video corruption occurs or not.

If you want to rule out the possibility of software issues causing your video corruption, I would suggest booting from a linux livecd and playing your usual suspect videos that cause video corruption. I had to look for a distribution that actually bundles non-free codecs in their livecd, apparently Linux Mint (http://www.linuxmint.com/mirrors.php?id=25) is one of them. I haven't used this distribution myself, but booting from a CD shouldn't be difficult as you won't have to install anything.

just a quick suggestion , stick another hard drive in there before you send it or clone your hard drive , there are somefree tools out there if you look .... seagate do one.......

i know this will be at your expense but at least you keep your system

Good insight, you could also ask the company if you can send the computer over without a hard drive.

Here is proof its not just my board. The only difference between this board and mine is its bios is modified by VM.
