I have  a big problem. It is about my PC so that is why I posted this here.

Sometimes it happens that my monitor (screen) turns off by itself. Well, actually the light indicator just below the buttons gets yellow ( not green like it is supposed to ) so I can't see anything on the screen. The computer is still working though.

If I turn off the monitor and turn it on again it still shows the yellow indicator. Then I have to wait for a couple of minutes and turn it on back again and than the indicator is green again.

What is this? Does anyone have  any idea? I also have to mention that this happens by itself whenever it wants and quite often.

Please help

The yellow usually indicates that the monitor has gone into its low power "stand by" mode. Under normal circumstances it should go off after a predetermined amount of time with no activity, a hardware screen saver of sorts, but I take it yours is just doing it randomly?

I once had this exact same problem; it turned out that there was some internal problem with the electronics that determines when to shut it off, and I ended up replacing the monitor. The warranties usually cover this sort of thing.:)

OK I see.

But this happens in the middle of my work on the computer. It doesn't happened after a determined ammount of time.

lol, that's exactly the same thing that happened to me.;) I couldn't tell when it was going to go off, so it was really annoying when it suddenly shut down in the middle of a game.:p

So it doesn't happen after periods of inactivity? Interesting.. my money goes towards CP's advice, then. :)

Sorry to say, but time for a new monitor.
Hope it's still under warrantee.

Hell, I'm surprised mine still works.  Bought it refurbished from HP 2 years ago, lived through a fire, then a paint job, still works fine.
