Hello, in fs2open I keep getting these weird black boxes around explosions, engine trails, shield animations, etc. and it is
making me frustrated. I am using fs2open 3.6.9 with the 3.6.8 Zeta mvps. The problem occurs only in opengl, but dx8 just
doesn't cut it anymore. Also, I am using an nvidia 8800gts 320 with 175.?? drivers, but problem also occurs with my ati
x1950pro, so I doubt the problem is the hardware. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may not have the right files or are missing some patches.  How did you install and where did you get the files from?  Do you have the patches for the MediaVP's installed?

Run a debug build, find fs2_open.log in \freespace2\data\and post it here as an attachment or using the "code" tags.

Most certainly you are missing the MediaVP patches (files beginning with "mp-710" located in \freespace2\mediavps\).

Yep, that's the problem alright. I could have sworn that I had the mvp patches in place, but it appears I do not. Another obvious mistake I overlooked. Thanks Guys! :)
