She's just a friend, that's all. I haven't been with her for three years in a row, so she's not my girlfriend.

I'm not asking for relationship advice either; that's out of the question. Someone told me I could ask around here (in tandem to looking around my local shopping centre, of course) for what to buy as a birthday gift, so I did.

Keep in mind that she's a junior college student. A college student has little time to go out and idle around. I know this because my sister studied in a junior college before, and the only free time she got was five hours' sleep.

I know what ya mean Nuke. She's a mate and she's 17 if there's no ambiguity then it'll be recieved in good spirits.

And if people don't wanna raise interest levels (barely) don't post on the internet. Ask some other mutual friends :bah:

All I know about her is that she studies a lot. I don't know many people who like to be defined by their schoolwork. "You are a GREAT student" gets a little tiring if that's the only thing people can say about you.

"She doesn't like cars very much either, nor does she fancy eating sweet stuff."

Chocolate cars? :D

Some of the stuff on ThinkGeek is good as well.

presents are far overrated, just take her out somewhere and enjoy your relaxing evening, far better then any object.

She's not his girlfriend people, let's keep the dating advice to a minimum? :P

you dont have to be someones boyfriend to take them out, just being a friend is enough, unless i am completely missunderstanding my relationship with a girl.

I have often taken both male and female friends to coffee shops, but it's not like I'd take them to Somewhere NiceTM

Go window shopping. Get inside her head without her knowing and you get man-points for carrying any bags at the same time. (No i'm not implying you wanna bonk her :p )

But seriously, she doesn't have that much time to do window shopping. She's doing pre-university education, and hence has little time to actually spend a whole day out having fun.

Ah yes, I also made a mistake: her birthday's in the 24th, not the 20th. I mixed her birthday up with a fictional character. :nervous:

Umm... I take female friends out for meals all the time.  Doesn't have to be romantic.

And don't feed me that crap about college students having no time.  I took two degrees with full courseloads PLUS labs PLUS work and I still had ample time for recreation.  My fiance did a nursing degree in two years which involved 70-hour weeks and we still managed to go on dates.  Anyone who says they don't have time all the time is full of crap.  Yes, there are some busy weeks but the whole program isn't like that - unless you want it to be.

Re: What's Appropriate for a Birthday Girl?
i wonder why everyone who has posted so far is to ask the girl out for her birthday gift?. if my girlfriend let alone my wife found out i was having dinner with another girl even if it is something as innocent (yeah right, always some sexually erotic thoughts that you cant shake.) as that dinner, and your girl finds out and your in trouble however if if she has been notified and she accepts, their will be a doubt in her mind if she is adequate enough for you when she sees you and this other girl having a great time, so i suggest you take a few other people if thats the case to make it look a lot less like its something like a date... however i dont want to give androgoes dating advice because he says its out of the question, so be it .
