OverWhelmingly Large Telescope and a Lonely Universe
The "Our Universe Is Not Alone" Theory

Best Case: If scientists find a long-lived gluino, the postulated supersymmetric partner of the gluon, one group of scientists argues that it can be seen as a "messenger from the multiverse" and will lend support to the theory that our universe is just one of many. (Keep in mind though: not everyone is buying this interpretation.)

Worst Case: Our universe really is alone. Or even worse: it's lonely.

The Overwhelmingly Large Telescope (OWL) is a conceptual design by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) organization for an extremely large telescope, which was intended to have a single aperture of 100 meters in diameter, but was later scaled down to a 60 meter diameter telescope. Because of the complexity and cost of building a telescope of this unprecedented size, ESO has elected to focus on the less ambitious 42 meter diameter European Extremely Large Telescope instead.

I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Is it just my imagination, or should this be merged with the KoL thread?  :drevil:

Just imagine trying to keep that lens clean, and what you'd have do to keep it from getting scratched by the cleaners or birds running into it.

Re: OverWhelmingly Large Telescope and a Lonely Universe
(I know this is resurecting a older thread)
But lol, i just heard about OWL (What a origional name lol..) in Astronomy class today. From the picture i saw, it is going to be a telescope on the moon or something.

But that sucks, they went from 100 meeters to 42..., such a shame. The sooner we get some big equiptment out in space, the faster we can learn some good information.
