How, by blackbeards... beard, do i get that fine lookin freespace like i sees on Blue Planet screenshots an' nearly everyone else's beautiful screenies? My computer aint be top-o-the-line but it can handle itself with prettygood graphics and other shivermetimbers and i want me favourite game to look like the sea goddess she is.
This be what i got in my shortcut target

C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_3_6_9.exe -glow -spec -mod mediavps -no_emissive_light -ambient_factor 120

And i be downloadin the latest mediavps as we speak... what else can i do to help?

Okay well i just completely gutted my freespace 2 folder and decided to do a clean up and just totally reinstall EVERYTHING. Off topic but who cares in a noob thread; was lightspeed's nebula pack included in the latest installer?

I think not. They are included in the MediaVPs, as long as AdvEffects are also used. They can also be downloaded manually from FreeSpaceMods.net.

I was hoping that you would have taken the time to reorganize it. If you deleted everything, and don't have a working backup anywhere, you'll have to redownload all the ****. And such excessive and unnecessary use of precious bandwidth makes the servers cry.

Its over a year since i last played and i have no idea where all the shortcuts, custom mods and backups go to. So i backed up my custom booty and wiped the sucker clean, probably had 2 of every file

Is there a goodlooking orion out there? I downloaded all the new files and have graphics running on highest levels yet the orion still looks... average and pixelated

If you followed the instructions on the thread I linked, everything should be as pretty as it can be. Even the Orion should look better than before.

Is there a reason the models in port that are in freespace 2 look vanilla? I understand that the Valkyrie wouldnt necessarily look top of the range but the leviathans and others look the same as they do in vanilla freespace... Am i just being too picky? sorry if its irritating anyone.

Also, why do the gorgons in cardinal spear look EXACTLY like Medusas? And my angel scout ended up being a Valkyrie?

Depends. If you have a proper mod.ini in the FSPort folder, the MediaVPs should be used in conjunction with FSPort and almost everything should be pretty.

Dunno. But they look like that on my end, so I guess it's a "feature".

Well technically, Medusa was a Gorgon, so the fact that they look the same should not come as a surprise.
