A small request. (Babylon 4)
It has been literally YEARS since I have been around the Hard-Light website. But I recently came around seeing my favorite Sci-Fi Mod had beem compiled completely. AND I LOVE IT!

I've always had an interest in alternate storylines, and one of the alternate storylines I always was interested in was the "Babylon Prime" sequel. Now, if you are an avid lover of the series, you know the fate of Babylon 4, which in the episode "Babylon Squared" returned in a wierd temporal-distortion.

In Babylon Prime, the original idea was that Babylon 4 would become the new base for the Shadow resistance in 2263(?)... I'd have to read it again. But anyway, I am interested in the aspect of Babylon 4 aka "Babylon Prime". I have picture here, to show you what it looks like.

From the available models, it looks like a modified Starliner Asimov. It'd be really cool for canon and non-canon alike if someone could model Babylon 4 for me and others. If you're able to do it, please let me know :)

It's already in the core.  You will need to use an Inferno build of FRED and FS2_Open to be able to see it and use it.  Look for the exe with the -inf at the end.

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
No no. Babylon 4 originally was going to sequel Babylon 5 after it's destruction. According to what I read a while back, and what I recently re-read on wikipedia, the idea was for Babylon 4 to be a totally different station, and would sequel the timeline of Babylon 5 for 5 years. But they scrapped the idea and put into the past instead of the future. I guess it was like Babylon 5 came first, then Babylon 4, Then 3, then 2, then 1? But Babylon 4's original name was "Babylon Prime". So, who knows where that could have gone if that was the case. I think it's canon to assume that EarthGov was building another Babylon, or had one built, in the case of Babylon5 being destroyed. I assume the Minbari would have been aware, as well as the Vorlons, that if the other station were destroyed, thier chances of ascending from the Rim would be slim. The First Ones ascended because they acheived the one true purpose of thier species: to make more species.

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
Just because B4 was sent to the past doesn't mean they couldn't send it into the future after the Shadows were defeated in the past.  Don't think it was ever said what happened to B4 after it went to the past.  Sending it into the future after it was sent to the past would keep from polluting the time line anymore then it already had been.

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
I heard (without ever seeing it myself) that in a comic there was a story about Babylon 4 re-appearing in the time of Babylon 5.
I don't know anything more about the story, only that the poster complained about some issues the comic had with portrying the zero G enviroment probaly.
I also don't know if it was a fan-fict comic or something with the blessing of JMS.

It did reappear, first season, when Synclair was still running B5. It's explained much much later on in the show how that happened.

It did reappear, first season, when Synclair was still running B5. It's explained much much later on in the show how that happened.

That reappearance was because of a "timely" glitch in the taking-B4-back-1000-years-in-time-to-help-the-Minbari-fight-the-Shadows plan.  What we're referring to is what happened to the station after the Minbari were finished with it once the Shadow war was over.  The comic (which I've never seen but heard about) had it being come-across in hyperspace, similar to how the Vorlon 3rd-Space gate was found.  That story was never part of B5 cannon however, but its a cool idea.  I seem to recall that Sinclair/Valen led the first Grey Council from B4, but there's little reference to it after the end of the war.

That idea of B4 jumping through time again to the future, after B5 is destroyed would have been one wild plot twist.  Granted, that plot idea must have been considered before the idea of tying the station in with the earlier Shadow war came into play.

Speaking of alternate timelines, if anyone's interested, there's a very compelling B5 parallel universe story out there.  It's extremely long, but very rich in multi-plots, and I highly recommend it, but you gotta read the prologue first.  You can find it linked through the Introduction, (which is also a useful read) entitled "What Has Gone Before".

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
Thanks, guys.

I've gotten ahold of Hulu and started re-watching Babylon 5 to kind of re-invigorate the whole thing for myself.
I admit, I'm not the best fan, or the most loyal. But of all the Sci-Fi TV series out there, Babylon 5 was my favocalir rite. A question, though... Sinclair speaks of what happens to the other Babylon stations. Aside from B4, what is there about the other 3 that we know of? For example, Babylon 3 was supposedly also like Babylon 4's structure, and actually was just a little smaller.

The radical disappearance of Babylon 3 and 2 suggest maybe Government Psi-Corps tampering... You could really tie into a big conspiracy with Babylon 3 and before. It'd be interesting to play it off in the game.

Also, was Babylon 4 before the Minbari war or after? And is that true for the rest of them?

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
There's one episode that explains what happens to them.  It's the one whit the mind feeder and the Holy Grail guy.  I think they were either sabotaged or just blew up.

Is that in Season 1? Because if that's the actual "Grail" episode, I was just about to watch it. :D

The stary is called "In Valen's Name"
It was written by JMS aka GOD. Therefore it is Canon that B4 eventually burns up in a planet's atmosphere in 2261 right after the events of "Into the Fire"

Hmmmm...Someone ought to write a fanfic based on B5's original treatment using the unused ideas.

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
In the Beginning has some in-construction shots of Babylon 1 at the end, but it's not very apparent what the final shape will look like. I believe Babylon 4 was the largest of the stations by far.

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
Zathras does say they needed the biggest Babylon station.
But on the other hand it's pretty much a moot point, since 4 was the frist that got finished.
The others were destroyed before they were finished, as we heard from "Jinxo" in the episode "Grail".

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
I think one of the First Three may have had construction problems and collapsed whilst they were building it (I'm sure i read somewhere that this happened to B1) and the other two were destroyed by explosives.

Babylon 4 was designed to be the biggest

Babylon 5 was put together from spare parts that were left over after B4...

Re: A small request. (Babylon 4)
The first three were all sabotaged and destroyed, but I seem to recall reading somewhere, that the first Babylon station was sabotaged by three different Pro-Earth groups, independently of each other, with no knowledge of each other's activities, and in three different ways.  So, when one thing failed on the first station due to sabotage, the remaining materials were reused on the second, prompting a different failure.  The third and final failure from sabotage was the reactor, which caused catastrophic failure to all remaining materials when they tried to bring it online.  That's why the fourth station was build under military supervision.
