Woah. Hold up here, kiddies. Before you run off to create a TC with 2 people, at least create a demo mission to show that you're really serious about this. Think of it as making a proposal to the community, with all the bells and whistles. Once you show that you're serious, and that you have a few workable models, people will be more interested to join up.

How can you do a demo mission of a TC if you have no models?
Make something cheesy using only stock ships?

At least they have a website already.

...FRED, not so hard. Pretty logical. I've put together several missions for my own enjoyment. Turned out pretty well...

A piece of advice from a veteran FREDder: Creating some sort of mission is easy. Creating enjoyable ones is much harder, not to mention stuff like making cutscenes or how much effort you must put into a single mission. Multiply it by the number of missions you want to make. You'll also have to run through the missions in campaign mode to see if they work properly in a campaign. It's more time-consuming and tiring than it might seem at first.

Yeah, the sad truth of FS2 mod development -- particularly for total conversions -- is that you need to do most of the work yourself.

Go look at The Babylon Project, an ambitious and successful total conversion. IPAndrews did the lion's share of that for a while.

We'd love to see it happen, and we'll encourage you all the way. Just make sure you know what you're getting into.

What exactly does Halo for Freespace explain? It died because Devrous's computer died, if I recall correctly.
He was doing fine on it all by himself until then.

That was a silly example. Devrous was doing a very good one-man job, with dozens of models converted, until his computer crashed.

A better example would be, oh, I dunno, the hundreds of other overly ambitious mods in the graveyard.

My post wasn't specific, it was a reference to disorganized/hopeless mods in general. A single-person team is vulnerable to crashes and bad RL issues but that's not the point.

The point is that bad things could happen to promising projects if there are no big and very well organized teams beyond them. :)

Really all he did was bring all the stuff together and bind them, and FRED. He didn't do the models or anything...

If anything, Blue Planet shows that mission size doesn't dictate the quality of the mission. :P
