My definition of an AMV is this:

it uses a song, eg: "10th Man Down", over footage from an anime, eg Gundam Wing. This is a perfect example. I'll allow videos that use footage from the following:

*Tokusatu Series. These include:
-The Super Sentai series. Power Rangers counts cos its American Sentai
-The Metal Heroes > Metalder, Spielvan, Winspector etc. VR Troopers also counts cos its American Metal Heroes
-Kamen Rider Series

*Computer Game AMVs.
-The Final Fantasy Series
-The Kingdom Hearts Series

Well of course the song is a tearjerker, but that's not even its original version.  Diana Ross first recorded it, and it was used most notably during the ending credits to "The Land Before Time."  It managed to get my 8-year-old self to sniffle in that context, anyway.

Its just like Ellen Paige was the best Grizabella in Cats, yet no matter who sings it, the song Memory never fails to bring me to tears.
