Wow I Thought I was the only person that liked this old game , It was always my favorite. Got it out of a bargain bin comp usa it wasn't supposed to be there late 99 I think. It was supposed to be about 60$. I think I picked up every version before and after. I guess I tried 3 or missionary and looked like RPG format and quit. Do you ever get to fly.
Cool I just downloaded open installer. Im sure I'll need to do some reading up.

There's a manual for it on the Support board, as well as a stickied thread including most, if not all of the most common issues. But if you go "wtf" at one point or another, don't hesitate to ask for help.

Yet somehow (and for some odd reason) you are brought back to life and thrown back in time and/or into an other universe, where you join a space-game-related forum and occasionally declare that that particular game depicts the future of mankind. So, where's the problem?

RPG = Role Play Games ,I think me means some space combat game that looks like an RPG game... I dont know of any

The problem is that my death is depicted in the "game" as a fiery inferno as my Destroyer is blown to smithereens! Beam Cannons are not nice at all!

Oh, sorry it's Descent 3 or Descent 3 missionary and if I remeber right it you move around in a mini ship or have control of a robot . First mission is in a large space station fighting rouge robots of such. Very much single shooter type game " maybe not RPG" I lost interest first mission.

I'm 42 and can't type for crap. No one seems to make their posts pretty in any forums I navigate ,so I just peck and post away.

Ah! Well, in spite of the branding, Descent Freespace and Freespace 2 aren't actually related to Descent 1/2/3 at all (aside from coming from the same developer.)

The name of the Descent 3 expansion you're thinking of is "Mercenary," and I can assure you that the game's mechanics are as far from RPG-like as you can get.

It's the same fly-in-your-ship-and-shoot-stuff gameplay of the first two Descent titles.

There is a cheat in FS2_Open that allows you to fly your ship like in Descent. ~ + O, if I remember correctly. It makes the afterburners completely useless, though, unless if you consider "immediate full stop" a useful function.
