Hi guys
Travelling to USA next year (Jan/Feb timeframe), wondered if anyone here has any must see destinations on the east coast (although will be flying in/out of LA, so anything around there would probably be good as well).

Cheers for any advice!

Any city on the California coast is pretty good, especially since you're in the LA/Long Beach area anyway.

Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Uh... you're flying into and out of Los Angeles and you want to tour the East Coast?

You sure you don't mean the West Coast, or are you going to cross the country?

That would actually be a really cool trip. Start in LA, end in New York. Might have to do that one day :D Although given the choice I'd pick SF as a starting point instead - For one thing it's a far more interesting city than LA, plus you can hit Yosemite on the way east without taking much of a detour.

If you're interested in historical stuff there's plenty of stuff to do in most of the major East Coast cities (colonial era, civil war, etc.). Washington, DC comes to mind of course. Charleston (Fort Sumter, et al) and most of the rest of the Carolina coast has a lot if interesting stuff to offer. Depending on how far inland you're planning on going, I hear Philadelphia has some good spots (never been myself).

I enjoyed Washington, DC and Charleston, South Carolina very much. Washington for the history and museums.

Of course there's always New York. I've never been but I'd love to go, if only to see/hear the New York Philharmonic.

You can hit up Philly if you want to do the whole Independence Hall/Liberty Bell/birthplace of America bit.  The relatively-new National Constitution Center is a pretty cool stop, as is the US Mint.  Plus, you can acquaint yourself with the best of our local cuisine: soft pretzels and Philly cheesesteaks. :D

I can help you with destinations in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington.

I second New York and DC. A friend and I drove there (from Texas) over the summer, it was a good trip. :)

Also, if you ever find yourself in Texas, the Alamo is worth checking out.

Find a major interstate in LA and drive north. keep going until you see gates and armed guards with their backs to you. continue into Canada. stay awhile. don't bother going north from the east coast - there's nothing to see. :p

I'm actually out in Bucks County, but it's just 45 minutes or so of driving to Center City.

I'll agree on skipping Raleigh and its surrounding burbs, but definitely see Wilmington, Duck, and Roanoke.
