Holy christ, what have I done...

:jaw:  :shaking:

Edit: if you must know, that folder is currently fifteen gigs and rising.
Edit: And contains four versions for "Furieux.exe" a hard drive wiping virus a friend of mine coded

Re: Holy christ, what have I done...
I've filled up my 30 GB external HDD and most of my 40 GB laptop HDD.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Up to around a terabyte myself.  Of course I've been collecting junk since 1980.

I mock your 15 gig Stuff folder with my 56 gig own. :p
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Re: Holy christ, what have I done...

B, C, and Y are all the same drive, just seperate partitions. Y is my linux drive, B/C are both vista

E and G were former Western Digital external drives i tore apart and put into my desktop, E being partially network shared and mapped (being Z)

N is a dedicated network backup drive

I've got backups from days of olde though after i got tired of losing my data forever, hence the multitude of space. I also get a crazy discount at work on hard drives...

the removable drives are a card reader array, though its not uncommon to see L-X be some varying amount of flash drives (and yes i have hit that hard cap of single drive letters before doing some insane flash drive work)...

TL;DR: approx 862.52gb

Re: Holy christ, what have I done...
I keep everything I can on my servers.  There's about another 700gig of space on FUBAR5 that I haven't allocated to a volume yet.  All of those server volumes are mirrored as well.    :pimp:

Someone likes their stats...and exactly what were you doing in Goldwave while playing EVE (whatever that is)? By the way that Vista looks cool - does it use up tonnes of memory though?

and it actually uses very little memory on its own, unnoticeable compared to normal applications

It uses more memory but manages it better if that makes sense.
I've gotten used to Ultimate and actually like it better than XP now.

Folder structure changes take quite a bit of getting used to and there are more confusing temporary spaces.
But I like the searchbox integration and it is pretty fast.

I may have to Build an i7-core with DDR3 in a few months just cause they are quick.

Re: Holy christ, what have I done...
It amazes me how some of you are able to horde up stuff you're unlikely to ever use again. The stuff that I have backed up only amounts to less than 200MB. The rest I either have no use for or I can download them again should I need to.

Really my idea of a "megadrive" doesn't involve TBs.

But as to the question, I've been keeping stuff since I started computing around '95.
Plus I've had like 8 computers over that period of time. 3 of which are currently active.
I couldn't count how many people I've helped because I had some old program version from before
they started charging or limiting features... or some old DOS tool like Norton Commander around.

I do a bunch of stuff with Photoshop... make movie theater sized posters. One of those can eat 400~700MB a pop.
Mostly I use externals and a tiny little old 38GB drive in my laptop.... so there ya go.
If I had the power for games, I'd need even more space... probably another TB at least.
