1) Right-click this. Select "Save target as..." or something like that.
2) Download to the location of your choice.
3) Use a .7z-capable archive program (like 7-Zip) to extract the .7z file.
pi) Place the .exe files to your \freespace2\ folder.
4) Select the fs2_open 3.6.10 .exe that ends with "-r" with the Launcher.
5) Click Apply.
6) Click Run.
7) Have fun.

Phew... trying to put it in use... at least it launched
...but it crashed and the ships are screwed... time to check the graphic details I guess...

EDIT: no crashes anymore  (EDIT EDIT: There are crashes if I try to check any of the modded ships in the Tech Room), the campaigns are working fine, but the ships are having those "chewing gum" effects and giant lines hurling over the screen. Do I need to change resolution or what?
If this is not understandable (thanks to my idiot description), I'll get a screenshot.

1) Select the fs2_open 3.6.10 .exe that ends with "-d" with the Launcher.
2) Click Apply.
3) Click Run.
4) Once you get to the main hall, quit.
5) There is now a file called fs2_open.log in your \freespace2\data\ folder. Post it here as an attachment.

Well.. the OpenGL is as good as it just can.. its the 'graphics card' that is the problem ( S3.. )

Quite. That graphics card thing is the culprit. I'm surprised you can even get the damn thing to run in a tolerable manner. Perhaps you should try not using the MediaVPs. That might help. A bit. And regardless of whether or not you're going to do that, invest into new hardware. Now.

On the bright side, I think you're the first person this month who has had problems but hasn't had wrong vp files in wrong places.

Yes you can.

For FSPort: move the mod.ini file in \freespace2\fsport\ somewhere else (completely out of the whole \freespace2\ directory).
For FS2: select No MOD from the Launcher's MOD tab.

Looks like a Blue Planet campaign file is floating around in a \data\ directory somewhere.

And the S3 should work just fine, but you MAY have to use -no_glsl. And you _might_ have to pass on Advanced. Having a texture limit of 2048*2048 and 8 texture units is a bit depressing.

On another note, didn't the log used to show video memory and number of GPU's?

Hmm. Indeed. Lucika: Check all your \data\ folders to see if they have anything extra. Basically the only things you should have are the pilot files in \freespace2\data\players. Everything else is extra and potentially dangerous.

1) I meant that the retail FS2 is working perfectly fine...
2) mod.ini is that configuration settings thingy or all the VPs?
3) all data folders? in the freespace2/data/players folder, there is are these things:
- images (empty folder)
- multi (empty folder)
- single (if I1m right, than there are only the profile files)
- squads (empty folder)
-hud_1.hcf and _2, _3 respectively
