I hoped on the wifi band wagon several years ago and i vastly prefer it over wired networking cuz i absolutely hate running ethernet cables everywhere. My current setup is a d-link dir-655 wireless N router which is 1 level down and 3 rooms over from my pc, 360, and ps3
I decided to buy one of the linksys wireless N game adapters for my 360. I much prefer it over the wireless adapter that MS made for the 360. Essentially it converts an ethernet port to a wireless port. (oddly enough the 360 is aware of the device and treats my connection as a wireless connection)
i dont have one of those adapters for my ps3. I'm using the built in wireless G card.
And for my PC i have a linksys wireless N card. (i went with it over the d-link because it has a satellite antenna so i can put it where ever i wanna)
So my question is, could i use that gaming adapter on a router? What i wanna do is get a 4+ port gigabit router and slap that adapter on the uplink. Yes I do realize that would mean all of the attached devices would share the bandwidth but I dont think that would be an issue. I used to use windows network bridging and a cross over cable to get my 360 up and running on xbox live. I didn't have any issues with that. So I can't see having my ps3 thrown in the mix causing a problem... hell I really only use it to watch blu-ray movies anyway =p Plus doing that would mean I wouldn't have to keep my PC on for the other stuff to get on the internet... If all of this would work, anyway.
The main reason I'm not sure if it would work or not is because the adapter does a MAC passthrough or cloning. Atleast I think it does.... Once i attached the device to my 360, my router saw the 360, not the device if that makes any sense.
