i would really like to congratulate every one who has posted and given such a welcome ( shouldnt we have a pink welcome banner for girls), and this has to be a new record , within the 13 pages this has slowly slid a little of topic (after the 3rd or 4th post) but at no point have we started to look at this in a religous manner and taken the conversation  any where near god , well done every one

In my opinion the only reason anyone posts those stupid welcome speeches is that they're trying to fit in with the way the community used to do it. Most of the people who post the speech these days don't even understand half the jokes in it since they weren't around when they were invented.

All the older members of the forum have realised that the speech was getting stupid and pointless so the irony is that by posting the speech you only prove how behind the times you are. It's like turning up in flared trousers and thinking you're the height of fashion.

I may not have been present for all the jokes (some of them at least), but I was around for the DS incidents, as a lurker. Anyways--there's always the argument that flared trousers is the height of fashion, but everyone is so unoriginal that they don't realize it.
