The Space Shuttle Enterprise was so-named because of a petition (?) by Star Trek fans. Ironically (in my opinion) it's original name was apparently going to be 'Constitution', which was the class of NCC-1701, and so it would have had a Trekkie (used as an adjective, I'm not talking about Star Trek fans ) name anyway.

NCC-1701 is the number of the original (Kirk's) Enterprise. NX-1 is the number of the Enterprise in the Star Trek: Enterprise series.
