I saw the trailer and it looked like it kicked ass. But then I read a review and found out it was a game on a track... :(

I can't wait to read the reviews for this thing.

I have played this a few times at one of the local Best Buy showcase computers; the game is basically a tech demo, with flashy graphics and arcade action. (sort of like Incoming) Doesn't really fit my tastes; if I only have a few minutes to play I usually fire up some older DOS arcade game. ;)

People play games for the same reason they watch Rambo. I was objecting to the clim that there needed to be any inherent quality in something for it to be entertaining- the two are almost mutually exclusive nowadays.

I've got the trailer to Aquanox. To say the least, it looks rather cool. Being based around gameplay isn't a bad thing at all; we can add our own storyline in later (if we can mod it, anyway... :)).

Ok, all those games you don't like are good for manypeople. why? coz people loved the first statement. if they didn't, the sequels to it wouldn't have sold. I look at what you don't like. You don't like popular games dude. I dunno if you force yourself, but the way you behave sounds to me like you just want to be provocating ( do you like diablo, final fantasy or metal gear solid? I bet I know the answer). I dunno if that is your nature or if you force yourself, I don't care, it's your right. But don't apply your tastes as a general rule, damnit! you don't like a game, so you don't accept it can be good anyway. I don't like games like, say, Final Fantasy for various reasons, but yet I KNOW it's an excellent game, it just doesn't fit with my tastes.
Oh well, another useless rant.

Venom: Your skill in utterly missing the point astounds me. I so much wish to be as repetitive and impossible to argue with as you.

As I said before, I have nothing against bad games qua bad games. There are some bad games I rather like, and many excellent games I can't stand. Final Fantasy, Fallout, Deus Ex... all good games, but I don't personally dig them. Compared to the sort of things out now, FreeSpace is crap from the gameplay end, and FS2 never impressed too much with plot. Still, it's probably my second favorite game. There are many such sucky examples, but I don't think I need list them- they're the Hummers of gaming, more or less crappy but fun. However, there ARE some games that suck to the point where they're unusable as games, despite whate4ver qualities they may have. Excessive adherence to realism quickly makes a fun game a drag, and so does using advanced computer tech badly rather than slightly outdated technologies well- my two main gripes with I-War. I-War DID suck too much, I'm NOT the only person who thinks so, and YOU seriously need to chill.

Its one of those interactive movie type things...
All you do is point the gun, its a great story, but it was killed by terrible gameplay...

No, no, you don't like it: he decided it's crap, so it's crap, and you don't like it, I don't like it, hell, all the guys who loved (oups, hated sorry) Iwar1 and bought the 2 because of that don't like it. Oh, I forgot to mention Freak, Claw, Styxx and Mikhael don't like it. Neither do the Buda project team, i wonder why the hell they're wasting their time on it, coz Stryke9 says it's crap. Oh, you're right, I'd need to chill right? yeah. Maybe.
Maybe not?

If that's 22 points I'll be arsed and EOC'll be worth playing. Guess it's only 10 max.

I can tell you that Styxx doesn't like they dying part. ;)

And I agree with some of what Stryke9 is saying - EOC was a disapointment, in some respects.  I was expecting more from it.

In some respects, yes. Overall, however, it was quite pleasing. In this case, its another example of the game company putting out a half finished product to meet an artificial deadline. For that, we have Infogrames to blame. They forced PS to dumb the game down. We lost PBC upgrades, stealth, the real COMPLETE damage model, etc. All so that Infogrames could make a quick buck a bit quicker off a nonexistent audience (casual space /SIM/ gamers? What? all three of them?). Infogrames ended up pissing off a lot of the real target audience who saw the flimsy bits where PS had to patch the holes left by the stuff they were made to rip out.

It was a disappointment, but at least its moddable and we can make up for most of the stuff that Infogrames broke. It doesn't hurt that James Moore and Stephen Robertson (and a few others from the PS team) are available on a daily basis to help out modders. Steve's got a bloody high postcount on the INA-Iwar2 forums. :D
