So I am trying to figure out this problem, and I have d/l the OPen Installer, since I think this is the way to improve the performance of the game?  However I cannot d/l Open AL without a login password from Creative website - how do I get this program?  Also, the 1.2 patch that has several links to it from the FS2 Open Installer thread, well all of the links are dead - can someone provide a good link?  Am I going down the right path towards having FS2 being playable on my system?  Why is it so complicated to get this game to work properly?!

Yes FS2_Open is definitely the right path.

Note the 1.2 patch is only for the retail CD's not for the GOG version.
