OK computer died , another bad hard drive, I got a replacement and immediately installed FS1 and FS2, I downloaded all the Shevian updates again, but I have obviously forgot something thats very important cause the updater keeps asking for disk 2, what did I do wrong. I know I'm not the most important  person in the universe, but if I don't get my FS back like it was everybody at work is gonna hate me come Monday.

If you want to I can set up a FTP Account for my webspace where you can upload the whole thing as one file - I still have over 20 GB left at my webspace, and it doesn't have that bad speed.

How about offering the File as 7Z-Archive as well? (Use 7-Zip for compressing) It has (AFAIK) a much better compression ratio than RAR-Archives.

Hey just used your pack and was wondering if fix1 is available anywhere as the link in the first post is broken. Also sorry bit of a newb but does the pack install all the  MediaVPs or do i need to get them separately like the install faq located on this site suggests.

 Also thanks for the work creating the pack and the original creators of course, great mod community for this great game.

I believe wolfen has a copy of the fix, so you could try PMing him. Then again, all the things done by fix1 can also be done manually:
- the missing Transcend cutscene can be fixed by redownloading Transcend manually from the release thread.
- the missing mv_music.vp can be downloaded from the 3.6.10 MediaVPs release thread (link in my signature).
- the OpenAL32.dll in your \freespace2\ folder can be removed just like that.

Also sorry bit of a newb but does the pack install all the  MediaVPs

As noted above, mv-music is missing so if you want higher-quality music tracks, you'll need to download it manually.

If I have the release fix somebody just tell me which file it is I zip it and put it somewhere so people can down load it, something like rapid share or put file, but I don't remember downlodeing afix, all I did was a complete uninstall of Freespace, and a complete redownload and install of it, then instead of useing tureys updates, I used the Shevian update pack, which I need to redownload again and reburn on my diisk, cause I kinda messed up doing it.

I assume it has the word "fix" in the file name. I also assumed that you'd have it because you've claimed to have used the pack.

It still is "Shivan". And in this case, it is actually ShivanSpS.

I looked in the folder I keep all the Freespace downloads in and the Shivan Update folder is empty, I musta dumped it when I backed everything up, but I do remember downloading all the files on the first page of this thread, including the fix thats not there now.
I can't find anythinhg with "fix" or Shivan sps anywhere on the hard drive or the disks.
But I do remember you telling me to remove the open al from the FS2 folder and that made it work, MY FS2 folder is around 10.4 gig so i gotta have done something right last time. every thing was going wrong around here at the same time so I probally deleted everuything I downloaded. I' usually keep all that stuff so I don't know wth I did this time, cause I could have swore I had everything last time I looked all ziped up in a nice little package.

Perhaps you should try to create some kind of a basic installation (FS2, FSO stuff, MediaVPs, FSPort) and make sure that it works. Then you could create a backup of it on a DVD. Then if things fail, you can revert back to the backup. Also, keeping the downloads sorted can't hurt,

Incidentally, as I don't actually know who might own a copy of Fix1, I added instructions on the first post that explain what Fix1 did and how people can do those things themselves.

Thats what I'm doing with me FS and FS 2 folders, I'm zipping them and breaking them into parts for archiving on dvd's, it just ticks me off that I have everything except the fix, cause I remember downloading it when I downloaded the other files. It was right after that you told me about removing open al from the FS folder and not the computer .

Thanks for including the instructions on how to complete the fix 1 corrections. Everything worked fine with them. Just got one quick question is the release in this the latest stable release? The exe included works perfect but if I get the 3.6.10 final release it gives me an error "Error: Can't understand 'VideocardFs2open' config entry! File: 2d.cpp Line: 1342 Call stack: ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------" I was led to understand this error comes from a corrupt or incorrectly installed freespace 2 but your included release works perfect so that shouldn't be the case. Well Ill just play with your exe for now just wondering if anyone knew what was going on.

A quick search reveals that you'll get that error if
1) You never ran launcher.exe and clicked run, okay or apply after choosing an exe from the browse button at the top.
2) You did but picked FS2.exe instead of an FS2_Open exe.
3) You're not running as an administrator on your PC and thus don't have the rights needed to write to the registry.

Or if you're certain that none of those is the culprit, your registry has other problems that need to be taken care of.

Go back to the 3.6.10 Final release thread, and re-download the Launcher, then set your resolution as desired and try again.

Thanks for all the help works perfect with 5.5d launcher the relaease thread says there was something messed up with 5.5e. I was still crashing from something else but figured out by the error it was something to do with voice recognition and turned it off in features and it works perfect.
