some little questions
hi lads!
well as times passed by i realized i never could make a mod on my own due the lag of time etc
but stil im not done!
i really like making missions
and im pretty far with a good looking( i think) mission :)
just some random stuff

but
i encounterd some things
i gave my some of my bomber wingmates the order to disarm a arcadia installation
but there not doing there job well! they just shoot at everything
wich  results in destruction in a while(well i never tested this out when the installation was below critical i forced my self to ~+I and ~+W  and disarm it as quickly as possible) how can i change this properly?

also, i  have an event when the iff would change  from hostile to neutral when the station was disarmd but this doesnt appear to work aswell i will post a picture of how the events are looking now
did i do something wrong?

i also know they still attack the target when in neutral
im forgotten to let the ships ignore  the target
i tryed to find a sexp with this but  i couldnt find it unfortunately
can someone brighten this up again :)?

and last but not least if this works out properly i may finish this mission tomorrow(or the day after tomorrow)
but now the problem accurs

i modifyd the table files
i changed some things with the weapons and i made slight changes to the speed and manuverability of the terran fighters and bombers( i will do this with the other races aswell)

i also added one ship
the gtcv chimera

how can i make this work for you guys?
i really want to show you  guys my stuff!

In the SEXP editor under "event name" it says do-nothing then ship-invulnerable. Why couldn't ship invulnerable go in the do-nothing spot (I hope this makes sense... :nervous:)

I think one way to do it is to go to remove-goals or clear-goals. This will do as the SEXP's say. If you do it this way you can also add-goal to add a goal to that wing/fighter. If you don't  then they will just wander around stupidly. Just an idea. :)

If you want the AI to not kill the station they're trying to disarm, give them Akhetons and Stilletos instead of damaging bombs and weapons.
The AI is pretty bad at doing things requiring precision.

The SEXP to make ai ignore something is:
add-goal
-ai-ignore
(if I recall correctly)

The AI will still attack Neutral if they've been given the order, or if 'All teams at war' has been checked. Neutral has the same colorization as hostile, which explains why you don't see the difference. Change it to "Unknown" if you want a better visual differentiation.

also, what's that do-nothing doing there? just replace it with the ship-invulnerable. Though I don't think it would break anything other than making the station invulnerable. At any rate, it looks cleaner to replace it.

Well getting the AI to disarm can be a hassle.  You can try using good-secondary time, upping their AI, or no-dynamic goals.  It also depends on what type of weapons you give them.  They will only use certain secondaries against ships.

As for the event it looks OK but I'm thinking this is one of those sexp's that can fool you.  There is also no reason for the 2 events. One will do just fine

when
-->is-disarmed-delay (assuming this does what it seems like it should)
---->5
---->GTI Formidian
-->change-IFF
---->GTI Formidian
---->Neutral
-->ship-invulnerable
---->GTI Formidain


Now the one place you may run into trouble is that neutral doesn't mean it won't attack or be attacked.  Neutral is attacked by both hostile and friendly.  I suggest you check the IFF-defs.tbl in the Wiki:  http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Iff_defs.tbl

so far so good

the corvette doesnt attack the station with most of its guns(wich is fine by me)

the iff changed to purple wich is also good
and my transport arrives as planned :)

i made a error my self

it seems that i though that i made an ai goal for the corvette to ignore the station
but i now i saw that the goal was  confirmed for my self instead of the corvette
when i wanted to change this it wasnt possible for the corvette ai to ignore the station( you couldnt select ai-ignore)

and i discoverd another problem
the chimera corvette destroyed a deimos corvette(wich engaging the chimera) without any problems and damage
and thats really odd
and yeh i found the problem and it it s that the deimos wont fire its beam
but i ticked : beamsfreedbydefault.
whats the problem?
im gonna try something out now for my self(making a beamfree event)
but what if this doesnt help? did i do something(again -_-') wrong?

Well you can check the weapons on the Deimos to make sure that a beam is equipped on it. I'm not sure what you can do about the ignore ship SEXP. You could tell the ship to play dead or to stay still, but I'm not sure if that is what you are after. You can also check to make sure that the chimera isn't invulnerable. If you need an easy beam-free SEXP here is one that I use that works all the time for me:

-when
-has-time-elapsed
(0)
-beam-free-all
(ships to be freed)

Hope that makes sense. But the beamfreedbydefault has always worked for me. If the Deimos isn't shooting any beams then that might be why it is dying. Hope this is what your after. :)

i changed this but still they wont fire on the chimera
(the deimos has to be destroyd but its a bit unfair imo :P )

but any other things are working out well :)

yeh
and i only boosted the speed a little bit
(i did this with every terran ship ((vasudan and shivan wil come later on)

anyways my pc was broken and it stil not fully functional yet..

my freespace mission froze like 5 times this eve
but the arcadia's beams suddenly work again:S (after that the game froze >.>)(i gave the arcadia some ltslashes aaafs and flak guns to give it a better fighting chance)
anyways this wil not hold me to complete this mission

im gonna replace the deimos with another ship
and than replace it back
maybe this resets it and than its hopefully fixed

I don't recomend doing that if you have a lot of SEXP's directed at the Deimos. The reason I say this is that you have to redo all of the SEXP's for the different ship that you put in. But if you don't have a lot of SEXP's directed at the Deimos, then it shouldn't be a problem. Also, just changing ships doesn't guarantee that the problem will be fixed. It may be a bug, a problem with the mediavps, a FreeSpace installation problem, a computer problem, heck, it may even go down to a graphics card problem. But it is most likely something done wrong on FRED, or something not done. You never know. Good luck. If you have any problems feel free to post em' up. :)

allright
i changed it with a sobek
and that one shots its beams..
but..
it first have to collide  with de chimera to do so -_-'
that aint working properly aswell
but atleast it fires its beams
