When you chain a Pokemon in Gen IV with the Poke Radar, the chance of getting a shiny increases with the more Pokemon you successfully chain. Also, it is easy to see when you're going to get a shiny since the grass glows instead of shaking. The maximum you can get up to is a 1/200 chance with a chain of 40 or higher, which is better than the base 1/8192 chance. However, this only works with Pokemon in grass, where the Poke Radar can be used, meaning that with any other Pokemon you're stuck with the original 1/8192 chance.

And I did get a shiny Electrike . It was male, when I wanted a female, but still, I got a shiny Electrike!
