End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
3 game, all about to be released in a few days..

Which one to get?

Well, I already ordered DOW II with a friend so that 's a no brainer.

Drakensang looks to like a very nice rPG.. played the demo and it was ok.
End war sounds simply awesome, but seems some people are dissapointed with it.

Discuess em!

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
End War was basically a game of highly atmospheric, highly polished rock-paper-scissors. Disliked.

Dawn of War II, oddly, seemed to encourage running around and avoiding the other army while capping control points and teching. Disliked.

Don't know about the third.

I think I'll be sticking with perfection: Starcraft!

Haven't yet played any of those. But if you think DoW2 might be what you like, do you have Company of Heroes and the expansion Opposing Fronts from the same company? I generally dislike WW2 themed games, but I made an exception on CoH and wasn't disappointed. It's hard enough not to be over in merely few days and the game can be found in bargain bins, yet the graphics are stunning.

I have DoW2 on order too, I'm a fan of the DoW and its expansions. DoW2's focus on individual units instead of base building and continued supply of troops is intriguing.

Starcraft? Euuhhh..no thank you.

Tried the DoW II beta. Nice. Still needs some balancing fixes, but very nice.

I wish I had PC that could run new releases. Unfortunately my PC was new at the times of Dawn of War 1.

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
You know Baldur's Gate? Drakensang is just like it, although based on a German Pen&Paper Game called "Das Schwarze Auge" translated "The black eye." A good, tactical slow paced RPG. German version is very good, I didn't hear the translation so far.

EndWar is great IF you are a multiplayer freak. Nothing for single player fans like myself.

Dawn of War 2 looks like a fairly standart RTS again, with a bit of Ground Control and Commandos mixed in. Least interesting of the three.

Yes. Very fluent in several languages.

As a little kid I used to watch Italian TV channels since they had many neat cartoons (Daitarn III, Cavaglieri dello Zodiaco, Voltron, etc...) and I picked it up really fast. With 6 I spoke fluent Italian.
Due to some channel/reception changes I switched to german channels, so pretty soon I was speaking German too. F'course, learning it later in school together with english helped too ;)

I did get used to playing games on english, so a german dubbing will probably feel a bit strange initially :P

in that case, go to it. The german version may even be cheaper now. Or more expensive, depending on your location's currency (->Dollar *cough*)

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
Indeed. Nobody likes the Hammer of HLP Pwnage.

Boystrous 19 year old temp at work slapped me in the face with an envelope and laughed it off as playful. So I shoved him over a desk and laughed it off as playful. It's on camera so I can plead reasonable force.  Temp is now passive.

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
however, be aware that Baldur's Gate is still better (especially the NPC relationships) than Drakensang.
So in case you have not played that, do it.

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
I've been playing the german version of Darkensang and here's my oppinion, in case anyone is interested:

PROS:
Excellent game. The graphics are nice, there's all sorts of nifty details, you can craft and brew various items and there's a lot of skills to learn, the quests and nicely done. The inventory system is great.

CONS:
You can't edit the characters face (minor nitpick)
Anal copy protection that can cause terrible bugs (like critical quest items or characters not appearing)...or maybe it's just bugs.
Thankfully, all save games are databases one can edit ones savegames to fix the issues. Lets hope the english release is free of this.

All in all, I'm very satisfied with it

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
I have. The two-three serious glitches are still there.

But, like I said, both critical ones can be taken care off with a quick edit of the database.

Re: End War, Dawon of War II and Drakensang
I changed my mind about Drakensang.

The thing is as stable as a drunkard on a high-wire. Until they fix the bugs and get rid of the horrible copy-protection, don't even think about it.
