Trying the Windows 7 Beta.
Yes, I am actually doeing that right now, and it seems that Internet Explorer 8 has some problems rendering the page I am currently on. As for everything else so far, it seems to be working ok. I have not installed anything yet, and the only thing I did was changing the background from a tropical fish to a snowy mountain.

The taskbar has changed from Windows XP. I am still using IE right now. Funny, I can change tabs using the taskbar.

The new interface is not a concern however, what I am going to do is:
Watch a video (without installing anything).
Play Freespace (and figure out if I need to install NVidea drivers or stick with the microsoft ones).
Install Microsoft Flight Simulator X with the Direct X 10 preview, see how that works out (requires installation of Daemon-tools, might become a problem).

OH well, I will try and keep you updated as I progress further.

I've had some funny issues with Freespace on Windows 7 thus far. Textures like to freak out and just go berserk (hard to explain). Setting it to compatibility mode seems to reduce occurrences, but doesn't eliminate them.

Easily resolvable.  Download a real browser like Firefox or Opera.

Would FF or Opera even work on Windows 7, though? I mean, they obviously will in the future, but this is just a beta.

I've been using Opera in Windows 7 since day one.

Every program that works on Vista should work on Windows 7. Those who don't either are badly programmed, or more likely use very specific OS related commands.

I'm posting this from Firefox 3 in Windows 7.

Windows 7 is supposedly very compatible with Vista stuff.

I'm using firefox 3 in windows 7. I never even started IE. What's astounding is that IE8 is worse the IE7.

The only function of IE8 is to visit www.mozilla.com and/or www.opera.com, and then act as a little blue reminder to buy a Mac.

Macs are too annoying - and seem to have less modding options. Not to mention the fact that they get dirty easily, since they are almost always white.

OS X runs really well.

Vista also runs well on a $2000 laptop.

Re: Trying the Windows 7 Beta.
Honestly the bugs in windows 7, like some of the mysterious lag that plagues programs when they start up for no apparent reason (CPU usage is at like, 10%), is making me wish OpenGL didn't suck balls so hard, because then I could move to linux.

But god, OpenGL SUCKS. The amount of Suckagetm that OpenGL manages to cram into itself is of such large proportions that I'd rather deal with windows then be forced to develop graphics engines using that horrible, boneheaded, patchworked, piece of ****, C-API, function-based pile of flaming sh-t.
