The Psamtik In Deneb, Clarification...
It may be lingual, but I'm a bit confused at the moment. We know from the very first command briefing that the Aquitaine is sent to Deneb to "reinforce the 13th Vasudan Battle Group, led by the GVD Psamtik". This has always led me to believe that the Psamtik was already in the system, but I recently read something(I don't remember where) that got me confused. It clearly stated that the Psamtik and the Aquitaine entered Deneb at the same time (or, at least, nearly at the same moment).

One proof is the fact that the Psamtik kept moving from one place of the system to another with minimal hull damage. Maybe it entered the system shortly before the Aquitaine?

Despite the proof I'm for the "classic" interpretation, I'm asking for a quick clarification because the presence of the Psamtik would be a very important one in NTV.

The Psamtik was sent into Deneb and the Aquitaine was sent in as reinforcements?

Flip a coin. You'll get an interesting result either way.

I'd say, have another look at the "Surrender, Belisarius" command briefing.

Reading the CB of Surrender, Belisarius, I believe the Psamtik had already been in Deneb before the Aquitaine arrived. In the next paragraph, Command says that they're hoping that the Aquitaine and the Psamptik's deployment would shift the battle to the Alliance's favor. This implies that although the Psamtik had already been there, it had not been sent to a major engagement.

You're forgetting that the Psamtik probably did have at least 30 wings. The amount of bombers it could send out would've made a difference in any battle.

Well, here's how I interpreted it:
Both the Aquitaine and the Psamtik have both recently arrived in Deneb, though the Psamtik arrived first, and hasn't taken any major actions but is awaiting backup before proceeding. Command hopes that the arrival of two destroyers will shift the battle in their favour.

But why would the flagship of the 13th be away from it's battle group?

That's what I'm tempted to think. The Aquitaine arrived later to reinforce the Psamtik, possibly after the destruction of a GTVA capital ship.

But why would the flagship of the 13th be away from its battle group?

A battle group doesn't have necessarily have to be deployed en masse - sending cruisers and corvettes ahead should not be a problem, unless they desperately need fighter cover.

Yeah, the psamptic must have had enough enemies to plow through, but was getting no where. Two destroyers to take out would make it harder for any smaller-medium group of rebels.

Note that this ensured that the GTVA won't lose a capship.

The Psamtik seems to have suffered some minor scratches when it jumped in above Cynus Prime, though. Perhaps it had a small scuffle somewhere else in Deneb while Alpha an Epsilon were protecting Iota.
