Things that made me sad today
Sudan wants aid groups to stop distributing relief
Quote
Sudan's president said on Monday he wanted foreign aid groups to stop distributing aid in Sudan within a year, in an escalation in the country's defiant response to an international war crimes warrant against him.

President Omar Hassan al-Bashir expelled 13 international aid groups this month, accusing them of helping the International Criminal Court, which issued an arrest warrant against him, accusing him of orchestrating atrocities in Darfur.

So now our choices include the following:
1) Just give the Sudanese government money and stuff and hope they do the right thing.
2) Actually ****ing do something about it besides vaguely wave a finger in their general direction.

What about the U.S. not acting like they're the Justice League and not respond to every single cry for help?
Hell, I could even say Elite Beat Agents on this one. ;7

Re: Things that made me sad today
I feel that way usually, but there are some cases where I feel that if we can do something, we effing should.

Massive tragedies in countries in which the government can't or won't do anything I think justify the use of our power in helping to resolve the situation.

I hate that we blow profitable problems out of proportion and then ignore very serious but unprofitable issues...

Hmmmm, I don't think throwing money against something other than the wall and the stimulus package or whatever is really on the agenda for the US at the moment. Sudan never had a chance from America, or the rest of the world at a time like this.

But it's nothing new! Neither is famine or the AIDS epidemic or all the civil wars across Africa.

Well I see your point in that sense. But as of now, there isn't really a whole lot the world can/will do about it.

 Can't believe I missed that one

Re: Things that made me sad today
The same people who hate Bush for deleting Saddam in Iraq want to go to war with Sudan???

IMHO, BTW, I think that the current deployments should be finished (or at least progress to the point where the US will work as instructors for police and military and require a few thousand people in I and A) before thinking about the next war.

And just as I supported hunting Saddam down, I'd probably support getting al-Bashir, since the two of them seem to have a lot in common.

Also, that would put the US deeper into the position of being global cop, Commander Zane has a point there.

P.S. Where's the UN when you need it? It looks like it's either talking and doing nothing or talking and waiting till America gets involved...

Yes....you would... Not that I necessarily disagree with it. However, cutting off any and all foreign aid would be a better idea, IMHO.

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.

No, just glass Africa.  Remember, THAT is the way the world ends.   ;) (I couldn't resist).  Seriously though, the UN was formed to PREVENT stuff like this, and they sit around allowing it.  World War III anyone?
