The claims of it being a "viral" video for the next Half-Life game seem to be unfounded. It says what it is right there on the page; a demo video made to showcase special effects. It's very well-done, in my opinion. Tells a cute little story of a science experiment gone wrong, at the kind of facility where it seems they like to push the odds.

I was thinking 'halflife' until about 5 minutes in then it became too obvious. it's clearly a fanwork, useing some halflife materials, maybe the Seven Hour War or something.

No, that's impossible. The Seven Hour War was fought with synths like Striders, not with foot soldiers, because Combine foot soldiers hadn't yet been invented. Half-Life was clearly a big inspiration, but the storyline is a bit different. Personally I saw the white-suited people as men in figurative black who were there to investigate and suppress, although their Combine-ripped dialogue interferes with this interpretation.

I never said anyone you see in the vid was combine, maybe this is some facility se up to try to fix the portal storms, and they accidentally let the combine in, the fact that civil protection sound effects was used is just because it sounded cool (and maybe they wanted to draw the connection, or maybe civil protection as seen in half life was based on something in place already at the time of the seven hour war in this fan fiction).

but the halflife links are too string it is related.
