Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
If anyone has any ideas for Corporation names please post them. Those were made up by me in about 5 minutes. Thanks for the help.

Why not use the canon names? Even if your campaign is set some time post-capella, having recognizable names in there would be a plus, IMHO.

What about "The Sons of Thunder"?

That's the meaning of Boanerges, but it's cool.

Uhm...like? Mention a canon corporation that may fit, because I don't have any in mind at the moment...

Akheton? Namkan Aeronautics? There were a lot mentioned (in speech and in writing) in the Colossus cutscene, IIRC.

Akheton, Subach, Triton Dynamics.  All of them are mentioned in the Colossus cutscene after mission 8.

EDIT:  Dang, E beat me to it.

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
My original plan was to use the canon corps. However if I did that and then just started randomly assigning ships and weapons to those corporations there would be problems with breaking canon there. Figured this was easiest.

He's actually looking for Corporations that make use of mercenaries. I don't know if the GTVA would let some of the major contractors of the GTVA Colossus have their own mercenary forces. One more thing: those corporations wouldn't need them in the first place.

Why? I'm guessing you want the corps to have something like a "security force", right? My advice here would be to look at the missions these forces would undertake normally, and choosing the fighters accordingly. Also, try to get a feel in your Head for the kind of "culture" these corps represent. There may be some who favor light attack craft like a Uly or Pegasus, others who favor heavy attack craft like the Herc, and so on. Since there is no canon info about these issues, you are free to invent anything you like, and you don't have to restrict yourself to canon ships only.

Well that's a story issue, don't you think? Maybe they need convoy protection forces, or protection for some secret installation or something.

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
Only problem is some corporations make certain ships (I.E.- Subach Innes- Subach HL-7, Triton Dynamics- Erinyes)
I don't think that warring corporations would trade with each other.

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
Military surplus? Things that got "lost"?  Mercenary forces that have some kind of "permanent" contract with one firm or another? There are many possibilities. Also, "securing" supplies would be a mission concept, wouldn't it?

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
It would be a good idea however, I don't think entire Hecate destroyers could get lost. I see where you're coming from, taking supplies might be a really good idea.

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
Well, yeah. IMHO, Destroyers would be too big for corporate warfare. In my imagination, the corporations would try everything they can to keep it "under the Radar", because once the GTVA gets a hint of it, they are probably going to stomp on them. Hard. That said, your campaign really needs a good reason why the corps would view military engagements as a profitable alternative to political or economical maneuvering.

There's always Morgan Technologies, of Derelict fame.   :drevil:

Speaking of, it's really irritating that you never get to find out what the heck happened to the Auriga in Derelict, but oh well.

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
Ok I guess part of the problem is me not expanding my ideas to far. The GTVA is gone. Following the fall of Capella a depression hit. When they couldn't support the population the population decided to follow the corporations, the PVE split from the GTVA and the GTA became a minor power.
And I hear that, Renegade Paladin. Just finished Derelict again.

Ahhh. Under those circumstances, Destroyers seem viable.

You read my mind Paladin.  The MTD Auriga is the only lose end I saw in the Derelict campaign.  Did anyone make any single player mission or subsequent campaigns about the MTD Auriga or Morgan Technologies?

EDIT: There should be any OTHER option in the poll.  Just my opinion though.

Re: Thinking of a corporate warfare campaign
Dang, now I can't change it.  I would vote for one of the canon corps.  That way, you KNOW what ships they would be using.  Triton gets to use the Erinyes, Akheton gets to use some of the Vasudan fighters, as well as the SDG, and Subach gets the efficient weapons and such.

Is it just me or is Izkanagi simply the Japanese-based Unreal II faction with a "k" slapped close to the middle? :P
