Vaccines are necessary.
We're all very lucky to have been born into a time when there are no major pandemics in the world. My dad and mom lived through the polio epidemic, my mom has a dime sized scar on her arm where they administered the injection that saved her life. That was 50 years ago. Do not pretend that you have not and continue to not benefit from the vaccinations you received as a child. They saved you from mumps, measles and a variety of other diseases that disfigured and cause such things as brain and nerve damage in generations previous.
There is only one major disease that hasn't had a vaccine successfully developed for it and it kills thousands every year. In fact, on the continent of Africa, it's in the top 3 causes of death. Malaria. Don't you think the people in areas stricken with this disease beg for a vaccine were if available? Do you not think that it wouldn't be deployed in mass amounts because some nutjob with too much time on his hands is complaining about possible side effects?

Fluoride, too, is quite handy. Trace amounts added to the water supply act to passively reinforce the enamel on your teeth making it harder and more resistant to damage. If you want to complain about chems in the water, I suggest you pick something that is present in larger quantity. Like, say, chlorine. Take the chlorine out and it's Montezuma's Revenge for everyone!
All I'm saying is don't read bad things into stuff that is innocuous at best and mildly annoying at worst.
Also, take a tour of your local water treatment plant, it's really amazing how they clean and sterilize the water as it comes in from the river/lake/ect.
