How is it misleading?

As to the topic at hand...WOW! This is bad...maybe :shaking:
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

I think he thought it meant that Oracle was actually going to buy the sun :eek2:

I heard about this, since my mom works for Oracle (she doesn't disagree that they're big and evil).  So this means that Oracle owns Java, MySQL, and I don't know what else...

Explains the over $2 a share jump in Sun.  Like that but hate that I'm still loosing my arse on it.  Never listen to rich relatives on what stocks to buy.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

Suns server hardware.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

One has to wonder about MySQL's future now that Oracle owns it.

Solaris OS too. :nervous:

I hope they keep developing OpenOffice.org as... open office software.

I hope so too, because now that Oracle is (probably) going to acquire Sun, they might have the ability to change the licensing on OpenOffice from LGPL to a much more restrictive proprietary license, and pissing off a -massive- amount of Linux users.

The lack of caps made me think of a future-predicting oracle buying our local star, but I guess we've covered that already.

Well Oracle has always been one for sticking it to mickysoft and even taking a loss to do it.  Hopefully open office will be another app to do just that.

* FUBAR-BDHR wonders why no one has gone the Delphi/Sun route yet.

Which is why he gets the award.  :P

My dad (who's in the business as well) said that Oracle programmed all their stuff in Java, so they would've been in trouble if IBM had bought Sun (which they intended to do) ...

I've just started using OpenOffice and I don't dislike it. It doesn't quite have the functionality of MS Office (I really like Office 07), but it is free, fairly solid, and better than any other of the free online alternatives (Google docs has its place, but it's nowhere near a MS Word replacement) so I'm hoping they keep it going.
