Gah! I can't write a stupid apology letter! (No help- just need to babble)
Well, on Friday, there was a thing at school where several local musicians came and played. A couple of other schools came too. I wound up sitting in the front of the auditorium, up against the wall. All the musicians were standing on stage, waiting to introduce themselves. Before they started, while the principal was speaking, me, my friend, and my friend's friend were goofing of. My friend's friend said something, and I threw an empty water bottle at him. He threw it back. A teacher saw, and sent me and my friend's friend outside. He asked me why I threw it, and I said because he was making fun of me. But then I felt really bad for getting him in trouble, and so when the teacher came and asked again, I said I had no reason.

Now, that night, I just happened to have an extra curricular thing with said teacher. It went on until 10 (Yeah. I know). The other kid happens to be in the same club. When everyone left, the teacher told us (and 3 other kids that had done something wrong while at the meeting) to go grab our parents, and bring them in. Now, my dad's sitting in the car. IN HIS PAJAMAS. (See where this is going?) He has specifically told me that big consequences would happen if anything went wrong last week, since I had a lot of meetings and get-togethers. And so theres about 20 people in the room. And my dad's there, in his pajamas.

So he's super pissed. Forget the punishment he had, which meant I wouldn't be able to go on an important school trip. I have to write a letter, seeing as I have no 'remorse'. It's not my bloody fault. I think with my emotions when I do something stupid. Afterward I actually think, and try to figure out the best way to fix it. The problem is, the second somebody talks to me, I don't talk. I just stand there, staring at them. And not 'deer-in-headlights', either. I look DISINTERESTED. Like I don't give a S***. BUT I DO. I always own up to punishments, and even put some on myself.

But now I have to write a stupid apology letter, and if it's not done by sunday, he'll kick my a**. Literally. Maybe he'll just beat me with his fists. He usually does (oddly enough, I've noticed that most mentally unstable kids have families dysfunctional in one way or another).

Here's all I have:

Dear Mr. *********,               4/19/09

I’m sorry for embarrassing you and the school. I’m also sorry for lying to you afterwards. I don’t have a good reason for hitting ****, but I didn’t lie. He had made a joke to me several minutes before I threw the bottle, and I was pretending to take offense at it. After you left, I decided that **** shouldn’t have gotten in trouble for something I did, and said that it was entirely my fault.

I'm SO SCREWED! I can't think of anything, because for once, I don't care! GAH!!!

Do a Breakfast Club, apologise for not fitting into the moulds that they are trying to force you into ;)

Actually, don't, but it would be funny :D

On top of that, I considered suicide that night, decided against it, then decided that I'm not even gonna bother trying to please people anymore. I've been happy all week.

But I still want to go on that trip.

Meh, suicide won't get you anywhere but an early grave, if you'll pardon me stating the obvious ;)

Unfortunately, sometimes we all have to eat crow, I think you made your decision when you decided not to implicate your friend to be honest, you had a chance to choose between keeping your friend out of trouble, or, possibly, not being kept behind, and you chose to take the blame on yourself. It's an honourable thing to do, but it's also a sacrifice you chose to make, you need to think very carefully about decisions like that, honour and friendship are important things, but you won't benefit from them unless you stop and think about yourself once in a while.

Also, remember, an invitation to response is not an obligation to do so, when someone is mucking around and you don't want to get into trouble for a specific reason, don't get involved, be selfish.

That's the thing- I don't even know him. And he walked out with be, just got in his mom's car, and left. Never said a word about going in.

Problem is, there's this thing about 'telling tales' in schools, which is dumb, is someone screws you over, why do they deserve some kind of esoteric 'protection' from taking responsibility for it?

Re: Gah! I can't write a stupid apology letter! (No help- just need to babble)
Because he'd been with me and my friend most of the day, and he was much less of a prick then we were.

No excuse really, it's wasn't 'most of the day' that counted.

In truth though, you really should have turned a blind eye to it, but nothing can be done about that now, I've got no real suggestions about how to put the situation back to normal, your Dad does have a right to be annoyed, though, I'm not sure I'd personally choose to drive a car in my jammies, your best bet is to talk to him about it when he has calmed down, tell him what actually happened, and why you chose not to get the other person into trouble, and take it from there.

Alternatively, write a really grovelling letter of apology, take whatever punishment with a smile and tell your friend whose friend it was what a martyr you've been and gain some kudos with your mates.

But it wasn't his comrades mistake but his comrades comrade and if his comrade is a real friend...........deserves some recompense I would think and he should make sure your friend knows.

What you've got in the letter is fine. Can you turn it in that way?

To the OP Kid: I have no idea why you're in trouble, your story doesn't really make sense. You should probably either 1) grow a spine and tell your teacher to **** off, and hope your dad doesn't beat you (he will) or 2) tell the truth.

Also, why are you telling us? If its a cry for help from child abuse, normally I would call child services, but you type like a British kid, and international charity calls ain't cheap. You're out of luck.

I'm still not sure what this 'trouble' is here, you threw a bottle at him and he threw it back at you and a teacher made you go outside?

It's just a letter so you might as well help your friend out and not give him a mention.
