Because most people have as much understanding of Autism as they do of Quantum physics, but still feel compelled to speak as though they were an authority on the matter, such is the Internet.

Frankly, I think this guys sole impression of Autism has come from Rain-man and seeing extreme cases on TV, and they've just jumped to the conclusion that this is how all Autistic people are. Kind of like how people assume that Tourettes syndrome is 'a habit of swearing a lot'.

It should have been done 6 days ago back when it was current too. I'm not about to bump a moribund thread just to tell someone off for being ill-informed enough to think Rain Man is a documentary on autism.

When it comes down to this sort of thing the intent of the post is important. The post was not malicious towards autistic people, merely idiotic.
