And it couldn't come in a better moment, this morning I was just checking the new nvidia cards to see if I could get something with a little more punch... don't know what kind of prank the universe is playing on me but I'm not enjoying it at all.


Anyways... I have to get a new mobo... what do you suggest?

My Gigabyte board is about ready to catch on fire.  Not to mention any overclocking will **** it up.  My CPU will be at 33C yet my computer will bluescreen after 10 minutes of a 105mhz increase.

Definitely not my high-performance gaming RAM, either.

my CPU is constantly running at 70+ Celsius, and peaks well over 90 when I play games, even when it's not overclocked and no matter what game it is, even the old ones like Descent. Ironically, though, I never even have any problem when playing FSO...

and don't get me started on my video card...I literally burnt my finger on the circuit board once...that hurt for a while.

This has lead me to resort to tearing apart the chassis and placing a fan next to my computer that blows cold air on to my motherboard, which finally manages to shut up the annoying BIOS' heat alarm, which goes off when the CPU goes over 90 degrees, and that's guaranteed when I'm playing games.

Are you sure it's calculating that in Celsius?  Because most processors tend to melt when they breach ~85 degrees. (Hell, AMD processors shut themselves down when they breach ~70.)

my advice is to remove everything but the cpu and ram. that includes the video card. if you dont get a beep code, then your mobo could be bad (but so could your psu, cpu, or ram). you should at least get a beep code if you dont have a video card.

I did that.. I first thought It was the video board because it was starting but no image was coming...
but then after unplugging the video card and getting no warnings I started thinking it was the mobo.
then I unplugged everything and still no warning.... I reseted the bios and still nothing... I removed the CPU and still nothing.

I'm curious though if it could be caused by a defective power supply, but I have no means of testing that, I have no spare parts to test it.

Absolutely sure. It calculates in Celsius in the BIOS, and the video card easily burns my finger when it's recorded as 90 Celsius with temperature monitering programs.

The most simple and the least expensive mobo you can find.. Just got one myself (MSI k9N neo V3).

I was thinking more about something that wouldn't hinder my other devices... maybe an Asus M2n68-am Se Ddr2 1066... it's a bump.. the sli deluxe is no longer aviable no the wifi version

Well, it's nearly impossible to perceive any performance differences between AM2 mobos anyway (with X2 CPUs) - as long as the thing works. Which, IMO, leaves stability and price the main points to consider.

Really? after looking up my CPU on intel.com, It's listed as having it's optimum temperature as 75 degrees celsius, which is rather hot anyway.

A new case? That might make sense, but I think enough air is getting to the MoBo, seeing as how both of the side covers are taken off...

That's bad in most cases. The covers are put on to direct airflow, once you remove them you'll disrupt the airflow and decrease cooling.

I prefer Gigabyte myself.  Particularly, the ones with solid state caps.

Make sure you are clear of dust and debris.
