I've tried it with several ships from freespacemod.net and whenever I donwload them theres always some textures missing. It's more prominent on some then it is with others. Is there something I'm doing wrong.

That ship might actually be missing that texture.
Just open it in PCS2, and replace the "white" areas with another texture.

You can download FOW: COTS campaign and take textures from it (it's used there).
Which models you downloaded previously?
I'm certain that all textures can be found somewhere.
And remember to turn on Mediavps.

I wasn't necessarily wanting to use them all but just wanted to have a look when i noticed some textures didn't appear to be loading in right. I've looked at them in the modelview and POF constructor.
I'll try replacing the textures.

p.s can anyone tell me where to find the GTCar Fury to download I can't find it on freespacemods.

Ok ,in order:
Archangel mk2: Rename "Shiphull.dds" to "Shiphull2.dds".
Reyena: You need 3.6.10 mediavps for this one.
Blade: as I mentioned earlier ,download FOW: COTS.
Fury: This one also is in FOW: COTS

Indeed. Judging from the sun engine glow in the bottom-right, you are not using the mediaVPs. Most custom models use textures from in there, so that's probably why you're missing them.

The thing in corner in actually Blade's forward engine glow ,but it indeed suggests that no mediavps are installed.
Just as FSF said ,they are needed for most of custom models.
Plus they greatly improwe look of the stock ships and weapons.

Some of them say that MVPs textures are used.
People just don't bother reading readmes... (aimed at noone in particular, but I know it happens)

Yeah I didn't realise some textures are dependent on mediavps, which is a problem because it slows my computer down a bit when i use them.
Actually I lie my computer only slows down when things are busy on the screen but needless to say it slows combat to a crawl.

Would it be feasible to replace these textures with none mediavp textures using AXE 3?

You can safely use Archangel Mk2 without mediavps ,same thing with Blade from FOW: COTS.
Reyena is the only mediavps dependent ship on your list ,I downgraded it's textures a long time ago (I had 3.6.8 mediavps back then) ,so I can upload it for you.
For Archengel just remember to rename this texture.
