I didn't see any Canada Day posts so I figured I'd better make one.  Canada celebrates its 142nd year of existence as a country today.

I hope everyone is getting a day off and a chance to celebrate in some way.  Todays plans for me were going to include watching some fireworks but its due to rain so probably do something indoors instead (maybe drink an Alexander Keith's or something along those lines :)).

Whaaat? Canada's a country? I just assumed it was a giant northern Puerto Rico.

heh that reminds me I saw a guy with a truck window sticker that had the Canadian Maple Leaf done in French tricolor.  I wanted to point out that was technically incorrect since France was still a monarchy during the French and Indian War and his maple leaf should probably be done up more like this:



Anyway happy Canada Day, enjoy them until global warming kicks in and the States annexes you as the new bread basket.

I'm surprised too. I thought it was just an independent city.  :sigh: Now that I think of it, how could we have so many Canadian members, then, if it were really a city?

On a (more) serious note, I have just realized how little I know about Canada. I'll spend some time reading Canada-related Wiki articles.

Happy Canada Day to all that celebrate it.

**** Canada. A friend of mine was deported recently, so excuse me for saying that Canada can go suck a lemon.

That said, Stargate and Galactica were both made in Canada...

Arg! So conflicted!

Deported or refused entry?  Either way your friend violated Immigration law, so it's hardly OUR fault.  It's not like people get thrown out arbitrarily.

Boystrous 19 year old temp at work slapped me in the face with an envelope and laughed it off as playful. So I shoved him over a desk and laughed it off as playful. It's on camera so I can plead reasonable force.  Temp is now passive.

That's the Fleur de Lis, which is the national symbol of France as well as shown on the flag of Québec. God, I hate Separatists. :P
